Hello my darling ballet-lovers! Welcome to my little corner of the internet, www.pink-tutu.com, where every month, I whisk you off on a pink tutu-clad time travel adventure!

This month, I’ve had the absolute pleasure of soaring back to September 1935, nestled snuggly into my darling Meg’s shimmering pink saddle. Magic Meg, my beautiful shire horse with her golden hooves and snow-white mane and tail, certainly loves a dash through time!

My leather rucksack is filled with the stories and treasures of the past - this time, it's overflowing with exquisite, swirling, antique ballet sketches! Oh, I adore seeing the evolution of the tutu, and 1935 had such a dreamy, graceful aesthetic, darling. I do believe a hint of that old world magic is about to infiltrate my autumn fashion choices!

Speaking of choices, it's such a lovely feeling to be dressed for a historical event - this time it’s the iconic opening of the Paris Opera House! It’s positively electric with anticipation! All the glamorous Parisian dancers, elegant patrons, and esteemed ballet critics are eager to see what's on the programme!

Imagine, dear readers, the intoxicating fragrance of perfume and powder wafting through the opulent, gilt-trimmed hallways, and the music – ah, the music – thrilling the very soul!

And guess what? The program tonight features the world premiere of “Les Sylphides,” by Michel Fokine. This masterpiece, so elegant and whimsical, is a balletic dream! It showcases the stunning artistry of ballet legend Tamara Karsavina, whose artistry was captivating the world.

And can you imagine my excitement? Today, I witnessed the premiere of “La Fille Mal Gardée”, choreographed by the ingenious Serge Lifar! The exuberance of this ballet, with its mischievous country dances and heart-warming storyline, was pure joy! My goodness, those costumes were sensational – vibrant hues and the most beautiful embroidered detailing! Oh, I must have those ruffles!

Across the Atlantic, things were equally enchanting! At New York's Metropolitan Opera House, the enchanting Anna Pavlova, another legendary dancer, is captivating audiences with her breathtaking interpretations of classic ballet works. And to think, this month I’ve had the thrill of witnessing her performances! Her beauty and artistry simply take my breath away!

September 1935 was brimming with exciting ballet developments. This period, with its love of tradition, paired with burgeoning artistic experimentation, was so very captivating!

Of course, what is time travel without a spot of delightful shopping? I couldn’t resist indulging in a Parisian couture treat! Imagine, a breathtaking hand-stitched pink tutu, sparkling with tiny rhinestones and the most beautiful tulle – it’s positively a ballerina’s dream!

As for fashion trends back in the glorious, golden age of ballet in 1935, think billowing skirts, elegant flowing sleeves, and delightful hats. But let’s not forget those exquisite ballerina slippers, meticulously stitched and adorned with ribbon – each one a little work of art!

This September in 1935, the world of ballet was abuzz with creativity, energy and joy. The spirit of the era has inspired me so much - I'm brimming with inspiration for my next tutu creation. Imagine, my dears, a soft blush tulle with a cascade of hand-crafted pink rosebuds?
