Pink Tutu Time Travel - Post Number 3309: 9th September 1936 🩰✨

Hello, my darling dance devotees!

Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood pink-tutu-clad time traveller, back from another dazzling jaunt through the history books!

September the 9th, 1936, my darlings - a date that positively shimmers with the magic of ballet!

Let’s kick things off with the ever-fabulous Meg. Oh, she's been an absolute dream this trip! The girl is so in sync with the time period - imagine my joy when she was all "neigh" and pink shimmering-hooved up in front of Buckingham Palace this morning! Just imagine it, a regal shire horse in full pink glory! Even the Queen must have noticed!

As for my own look? Well, what better way to honour a glorious era than a powder pink tulle creation, right?! The wispiness of the fabric paired with the graceful elegance of the style just makes for a picture of ballet perfection! I feel so absolutely inspired to create a look that captures the spirit of this era, but in a modern, Emma-fied, touch, of course!

Speaking of fabulous fashion - I was absolutely delighted to learn that this was the year that Ballet Russes returned to London, after quite the absence. Oh, the grandeur, the excitement, and the sheer artistry! Their presence sent a shiver of excitement through the London ballet world, a glorious reminder of the strength and vibrancy of the ballet community!

You know I couldn’t resist popping in to watch a performance at the Sadler’s Wells theatre. Talk about history! This grand old venue saw a revival of Diaghilev’s masterpiece Les Sylphides - the perfect way to soak in the spirit of ballet’s golden age! Imagine delicate tutus swirling and dancing on a stage where giants like Nijinsky and Pavlova once shone! It was utterly magical, darling. My rucksack is now laden with new memories and some utterly precious vintage ballet programmes, ready for my next pink-tutu time-travelling post!

My darling, 9th September 1936 - a day bursting with life! It wasn’t all just ballerinas and pretty tutus, though. On the grand stage of the world, big events were playing out, the ripples of which would echo through time.

We also saw, with the opening of the Olympic Games in Berlin, a demonstration of how ballet had its own cultural impact - not just a form of art, but a story of national pride! The beauty of ballet was on display for the world to see, and who can resist a graceful turn and a sparkling, pink-tutu clad, ballerina? Not me, that’s for sure!

This time, my beloved dance lovers, my post has taken a rather long, and magical, turn, but it's all about spreading the love for the world of ballet, right? And to spread that love even further, my darlings - I’m thinking a special little "Pink Tutu Fashion Challenge" on www.pink-tutu.com - a chance for you all to recreate your own pink-tutu masterpiece inspired by my own, glamorous time travel attire! So get your sewing needles at the ready, darling, and let’s turn the world pink!

Now, back to the glorious year of 1936... The future beckons! Meg, are you ready for our next adventure?! Neigh!

Remember to keep those pink tutus twirling and keep an eye out for my next time travel tale - on the first of the month, of course! Until then, let’s all dance on in those sparkly pink tutus!

Love, Emma xx
