Pink Tutu Time Travels: Post 3693 - A Blast Back to September 9th, 1968!

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and I'm back with another thrilling time travel adventure, this time taking us back to September 9th, 1968! Oh, the fabulousness of this date - just wait until you hear what was happening in the ballet world!

But first, let me tell you about my journey. My trusty steed, the dazzling Magic Meg (she really does sparkle!), galloped me back to 1968. This journey wasn't as smooth as I'd hoped, though. It seems there's a lot more traffic in the skies nowadays! But luckily, with Magic Meg's incredible pink mane and golden hooves, we cut through the traffic with style and speed.

As we touched down in Derbyshire, England (yes, that's my little corner of the world!) I couldn't help but feel the shift in time. The air felt different, more fresh, less congested - quite dreamy really. Even the flowers were more vibrant and fragrant, it was quite delightful!

Once I'd popped on my trusty pink tutu (it always feels so liberating to have a little twirl after time travelling!) I unpacked my leather rucksack. I like to keep a journal with me on my travels - well, several really - and my lovely little notebook from 1968 was stuffed full of all kinds of fascinating facts! It seems like quite a big month for ballet!

September 1968: A Ballet Feast

Well darlings, let me tell you, September 1968 was overflowing with ballet delights! It seemed like every theatre and ballet school had something magical on the calendar. First and foremost, we have the New York City Ballet which opened its season on the 16th of September with the premiere of Jerome Robbinsโ€™ 'The Goldberg Variations' a gorgeous ballet which I have to get a chance to see one day.

This ballet features a fantastic, diverse mix of choreographic ideas that bring the piece to life. This production was a complete hit - critics and the audience were swooning, saying it was a groundbreaking dance of strength and subtlety, and we can see why!

Another fantastic ballet was 'The Song of Norway', opening in London's Dominion Theatre on the 9th! Just picture it: the costumes, the sets, the music! It's almost enough to make me blush. This ballet is known for being beautifully performed and well-costumed with a whimsical touch to the music. Imagine a magical ballet spectacle set to a delightful mix of songs and dances with gorgeous period costumes, like dancing in a fairy tale! Oh, if only we could go back in time and enjoy this with a glass of champagne...perhaps that can be my next adventure!

Fashion for My Ballet Darling!

While I was soaking up the exciting news of September 1968, my eye caught the latest trends in fashion. Let me tell you, the seventies are right around the corner and the fashions were wild! A strong, athletic look for ballerinas, featuring leotards in eye-catching colours like emerald green, midnight blue, and vibrant orange. It truly embodied a vibrant and modern dance spirit. You bet I was doing a little shopping! (Maybe a touch too enthusiastic...sorry, Magic Meg! ;))

And of course, the iconic pink tutu was a must-have! So chic! I'm already designing a few vintage pink tutus, with delicate lace, shimmering fabrics, and of course, plenty of pink! Just wait until you see the photos...it'll be a perfect combination of retro-chic and ballet inspiration.

I am already dreaming of taking this back in time for a photoshoot...can't wait for you all to see!

My Fashion Wish for You!

So my dearest ballet darlings, it's time for you to join the pink tutu revolution! Embrace your inner ballerina with a touch of 1968 fashion. Try a shimmering pink leotard, a simple, flowing tutu, and dance your heart out! Imagine yourselves gliding gracefully in a pastel pink outfit and spreading your ballet magic in every turn and jump! Let's fill the world with the vibrant hues of pink tutus, from the streets to the stage!

And that, my dears, is what brings our September 9th, 1968, journey to a close. Be sure to come back for next month's travel diary. There's always a fantastic ballet adventure just around the corner. Until then, twirl on!

Warmly, Emma
