Hello lovelies! It’s your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveller Emma here, and boy, oh boy, have I got a story for you this month! This time, Magic Meg, my magnificent pink shire with the golden hooves and white mane, galloped us all the way back to October 1972! And oh, the adventures we had...
I popped on my newest pink tutu, the one with the delicate tulle and sparkling diamante trim, for this trip - wouldn't want to be underdressed for a royal encounter, now would we? This time, our first stop was London, and not just any old London - Buckingham Palace! You see, the 10th of October 1972 saw the Royal Ballet performing at the palace, a truly special occasion. Imagine! Twirling and pirouetting for the Queen herself! I felt a wave of inspiration wash over me, dreaming of that moment. It made me think about the beautiful history of ballet, all the ballerinas who danced in grand halls like these. How wonderful to be a part of that legacy!
My trusty leather rucksack was bulging with excitement – I had brought my little notebook, my camera (my old one just takes those beautiful antique pictures), and even a few pink ribbons in case I could snaffle some memorabilia!
Of course, I didn't just want to watch the ballet, oh no! I've got moves, lovelies. And with the graceful assistance of Meg (and a good splash of pink shimmer on my face), I blended in effortlessly. The music started, and my feet went into a flurry of graceful steps - it was an exhilarating experience! The Queen seemed delighted, she kept smiling and nodding, giving me a most royal wave! She looked positively captivated by my pink tutu – and let’s be honest, who wouldn’t?
After my ballet experience in London, it was off to Paris! Paris is just a whirl of enchantment and fashion. In Paris, 1972 saw a breathtaking new performance at the Palais Garnier - it was called “Le Spectre de la Rose”, a stunningly beautiful and tragic ballet by Mikhail Fokine. My breath caught in my throat - it was like watching the flowers bloom and the colours explode right in front of my eyes! The ballet left a mark on me – an elegant tale of dreams and love. The vibrant colours, the poignant story, and the sheer virtuosity of the dancers left me speechless! It was simply divine.
Speaking of virtuosity, there was a little known ballet dancer who made his debut on that very day, 10th October, 1972, in New York. This young, but brilliant dancer was Rudolf Nureyev! Oh, he was mesmerising – I managed to get an autograph after the performance. He seemed truly humbled by my passion and pink tutu, he was positively enchanted by the sparkle.
The energy from the world of ballet was electric - just like my fabulous pink tutu! It was a whirlwind of talent, innovation, and creativity – all swirling around me, reminding me just how magical this world can be.
Oh, my lovely readers, there’s more! Back in Derbyshire, I found a sweet little shop full of antique ballet books. It's like a treasure trove! I got myself a lovely vintage copy of “Coppélia” with exquisite illustrations - oh my goodness! It's going straight to the www.pink-tutu.com website. My latest fashion collection will be all about Parisian style – I’m thinking dramatic swirling tulle skirts, dramatic bows and a few feathered embellishments!
Remember my dears, time travelling to the world of ballet isn’t just about me. It’s about inspiring YOU to wear a pink tutu! Be fearless! Embrace your inner ballerina. Dance to the beat of your own heart. And don't forget - tutus can make any day magical, no matter which time period you’re in. I hope this blog post inspires you to try it too - you’ll never know what awaits in the past, present, or even future.
Until next time, darling readers, stay fabulous and embrace the twirl!
Yours in pink, Emma xx
