Hello darlings, and welcome back to www.pink-tutu.com, your one-stop shop for all things ballet and time travel! This month, I'm taking you on a fabulous journey back to October 10th, 1978, a year bursting with incredible ballet performances and, of course, beautiful pink tutus!

Oh, I just adore those gorgeous pink tutus from the late 70s. The softest shades of blush, the most delicate layers of tulle, they were simply divine! Imagine me twirling in a voluminous pink tutu, the spotlight catching the sparkle of my tiny diamanté embellishments - simply perfect for my grand entrance to 1978!

Now, onto the magnificent Magic Meg! Today, she's feeling particularly spritely. A glossy coat the colour of pink champagne, her mane and tail cascading down in a waterfall of white silk, and hooves shimmering gold. This majestic shire is, quite simply, a vision. She's carrying my favourite new leather rucksack - just imagine all the fabulous ballet history secrets this one will hold!

Speaking of history, let's talk ballet! 10th October, 1978 saw a plethora of exciting performances happening all over the world. In the Royal Opera House in London, they were celebrating a spectacular revival of "The Sleeping Beauty". Just imagine the grandeur, the sheer drama of the three acts, with music that would send shivers down your spine!

On the other side of the world, the Australian Ballet in Melbourne was staging a production of "La Sylphide", a captivating piece known for its enchanting, ethereal choreography. Imagine the delicate grace of the sylphides, their movement like dancing snowflakes, set to a hauntingly beautiful score.

I do love my historical ballet adventures, and in 1978, the ballet world was buzzing. We were experiencing a resurgence in classical ballets, but contemporary pieces were also gaining momentum, giving a chance for daring choreography and exciting innovations. My ballet boots are just itching to get on that stage, and of course, I'm saving all the best memories of the performances in my new leather rucksack, so don't you worry, darlings, I’ll tell you all about them in my next post!

Now, for the big news – and it's all about FASHION! Imagine this, darlings, I am obsessed with this stunning ballet leotard that I found in a vintage shop. A delicate pastel pink, with intricate ruffles and an explosion of sparkly, colourful rhinestones - it's the most beautiful thing I've seen this century (or any century)! It’s a definite "Pink-Tutu.com" favourite.

Oh, and let's not forget about the amazing ballet outfits of 1978! Just think – sparkling leotards with flamboyant necklines, colourful tights in bold designs, and a whole array of gorgeous leg warmers. We might have been stuck in an era of "platform shoes" (my heart still cringes at the mere thought of them!), but the fashion in the ballet world was absolutely divine!

You know what, darlings? The ballet world in 1978 reminds me so much of the incredible revival happening in ballet today. We have all the traditions, the classic ballets, the breathtaking performances, but with a beautiful fresh energy, new voices, and incredible artistry! It makes me absolutely giddy with excitement!

That reminds me, darlings! We have to celebrate the return of a much-loved ballet star to the world stage, a true ballet legend who was dominating in the late 70s, the glorious Margot Fonteyn! It seems her grace and elegance continue to captivate the hearts of ballet fans, myself included!

Right now, as I'm writing this post from Derbyshire, I'm watching the rehearsals for our annual "A Night of Ballet" charity event. All of the proceeds are going to "Pink Tutu Dreams", a fantastic charity dedicated to ensuring that every girl has the chance to learn ballet, no matter what her background! So if you fancy coming along to the event, just visit www.pink-tutu.com – the details are on the homepage.

I’ll see you all next month, for more ballet fun! And, if you haven't already, darling, please make sure you check out the newest edition of my "Pink Tutu" fashion range. Oh, I simply cannot tell you how much joy those beautiful pink tutus bring to me - and to all those who have the pleasure of seeing them.

Stay fab, darlings!

Until next time, Emma xx
