Ballet Time Travel: 3835 - The Queen of Ballet in the Age of Disco!

Hey my gorgeous pink tutu lovers! It's your girl Emma here, back with another exciting entry in my ballet time travel journal! July 7th, 1980... what a fabulous year to be alive! Let me tell you, 1980s fashion is simply divine. Leggings and leotards are all the rage, the colour pink is in, and those big, bouncy hairdos are just chef's kiss!

And what a glorious day it was for ballet, too! My trusty steed, Magic Meg, a shimmering pink Shire horse with golden hooves, carried me straight to the heart of the ballet world. We galloped through time, the wind whipping my pink tulle skirt as we landed smack-dab in the middle of a vibrant ballet class! It felt just like stepping into one of those old, black-and-white films – a beautiful symphony of movement.

This week, my leather rucksack is filled with stories from New York, Paris and Moscow, where the world of ballet was buzzing with excitement. My dear diary, get ready for some serious glamour:

New York City: I strutted into the city that never sleeps with my pink tutu, feeling fabulous! The legendary New York City Ballet was just about to have a gala. It was bursting with glitz and glam, a whirlwind of sparkling tulle and soaring jumps. Did I mention it was Mikhail Baryshnikov performing?! The crowds went wild for him, even though I did make an entrance in my pink tutu and got a few admiring glances (more on this later).

Paris: The City of Lights was bathed in an elegant aura that truly brought out the fashionista in me! The Paris Opera Ballet had a captivating production of "Don Quixote" on stage, its beauty was breathtaking. My, the tutus and costumes, just dreamy! I made a beeline to the shops afterward to get my hands on a replica of one of those glorious headbands that were oh-so-popular that year. You know me, always gotta keep up with the latest trends.

Moscow: It was an absolute treat to step into the Bolshoi Theatre. What an epic performance of "Swan Lake"! Those graceful swans in their white tutus… it truly had me mesmerized! As usual, there were plenty of pink accents for me to soak up. It wasn’t long until I was in a local ballet shop, adding more pink ballet treasures to my collection. Can you imagine, they had these dazzling pink ballet shoes with shimmering crystals! I snatched a pair before they disappeared - such a treasure!

Speaking of dazzling ballet shoes… My dear time travelers, what do you think of my recent performance in a show in Derbyshire to fund my latest adventure? It was a triumph! They all gasped as I danced on stage in my pink tutu, and afterwards the whole theatre wanted photos with me. And you know what? They loved my pink tutu! I might even be responsible for sparking a new pink tutu trend! I know, right? Just wait and see what next month holds...

Anyway, that was my trip to the fascinating 1980s world! Don’t forget to check out www.pink-tutu.com next month for more updates on my fabulous ballet time travels.

Until then, dance your heart out, and remember, there's a pink tutu out there for everyone!

XOXO, Emma.
