Pink-Tutu.com Blog Post #3995: A Whirlwind of 11th November 1993 with Magic Meg 🩰✨

Hello, darlings! Emma here, back from another whirlwind trip through time, this time landing in the most wonderful, balletic November of 1993! My trusty steed, Magic Meg, carried me back to a time where tutus swirled, and the world of ballet was truly brimming with exciting stories. This time, Meg sported a new accessory – a fluffy pink feather boa around her neck, matching my fabulous pink tutu, of course!

The world was a ballet lover's dream back then! The air buzzed with anticipation, as if everyone knew something wonderful was about to happen, and of course, it was – for me anyway! But before I get into my time-travelling shenanigans, let's talk about what the rest of the ballet world was up to on this enchanting 11th of November, 1993.

A Ballet Bonanza of 11th November 1993

Let's delve into the magic of this particular date:

  • The Royal Ballet: Imagine my joy at being in London and witnessing The Royal Ballet's "The Sleeping Beauty" at the Royal Opera House! Oh, the exquisite costumes! The breathtaking sets! The enchanting music that just drew me right into the story. What an incredible performance it was, with its flawless dancing and grand sets that practically made me swoon.

  • The Paris Opera Ballet: Across the channel, the Parisian ballerinas were twirling and leaping with the Paris Opera Ballet’s “Giselle”. A timeless classic, it transported me right back to the dreamy, Romantic era, where tragic loves and fantastical creatures weave an unforgettable tale. This iconic performance was held at the Palais Garnier, just adding to the opulent grandeur of the whole experience.

  • The New York City Ballet: Not to be outdone, the American ballet scene was vibrant, too! New York City Ballet presented "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" by George Balanchine, a masterpiece that captured the magic of Shakespeare and made the iconic tale come to life on stage.

  • American Ballet Theatre: Across the city, American Ballet Theatre’s “The Nutcracker” was a beautiful spectacle, dazzling audiences with its stunning scenery and intricate choreography.

Oh, what a treat for a ballet aficionado like me!

Time-Travelling Through History's Tutu Trail

Back to my journey:

The minute I touched down in 1993, my pink-tutu radar was pinging with excitement! It was time to gather some treasures for my ballet-filled rucksack. I couldn’t wait to fill it with the stories and pieces of this extraordinary time.

I had an incredible adventure discovering the ballet treasures hidden within the London Library's archives. I found a treasure trove of handwritten letters, signed programs from performances, even a vintage costume sketch for a forgotten ballet that I am desperately hoping to see recreated one day!

And, what a delight to find myself in a real-life tutu shop! Oh, those glorious pink shades – from blush to fuchsia to bubblegum pink! The soft tulle, the intricate designs – my heart skipped a beat! I picked out the prettiest silk ribbon, just a teeny souvenir for my time capsule.

Catching the "Phantom" of the Opera!

Even though I wasn't quite time travelling for a ballet performance this time, I managed to get my dancing shoes on at a show with the London's West End hit “Phantom of the Opera,”! The show featured intricate choreography and a gorgeous, theatrical costume and set design that were nothing short of magical. A truly captivating performance – you just knew it was going to be iconic.

And my dearest Meg, oh, she looked the picture of elegance. Imagine her: her silken mane trailing in the wind, her golden hooves glittering, and those sparkling pink feathers adorning her neck.

I love showing off the pink tulle to all the people who haven’t seen it before. It seems like every time we go back, someone is captivated by the way the skirt billows in the wind, as Meg runs like the wind. They seem to be completely charmed by it.

The Secret Behind My Pink Tutu World Tour

Before I zip off again on my next time-travelling escapade, let's talk funding for these magical adventures.

It’s a well-kept secret, darling, but to fund my time-travels I have to hold ballet performances myself. Now, my secret talent: a truly incredible performance. My dancing makes people absolutely lose their minds! It's how I get the money for all of my costumes and even manage to give Meg all the best pink ribbons and treats. The crowds have never seen a dancer quite like me, my outfits, my graceful moves - it's something else, all thanks to my extraordinary pink tutu.

P.S.: For those of you who dream of pink tutus as much as I do – have you heard of “The Tutu Project?” A group of passionate individuals dedicating themselves to sharing the joy of dance with communities around the globe! This incredible initiative encourages self-expression and empowers people from all walks of life. Just goes to show: ballet can make the world a better place one twirl at a time. So keep those dreams alive, darling!
