Hello, darlings! Emma here, your very own Pink Tutu Time Traveller, bringing you another whimsical whirl through the world of ballet and beyond! It's the 12th of December, and the year is 2000. A whole new millennium! Just picture me, gliding through time on the back of my magnificent steed, Magic Meg, a shire horse shimmering with pink glitter and boasting a golden mane and tail – an absolute vision!
This month, I'm channeling all things pink and fluffy. My Tutu of the Month? A cloud of shimmering blush pink silk, adorned with pearl beads that sparkle with each graceful pirouette. It's the perfect match for my sparkly pink leggings and shimmering pink boots, ready to take on any time travel adventure!
And speaking of adventures, December 2000 had quite a few, ballet-wise. Let's have a little peek!
A Dance Through Time
We landed in Paris, the City of Lights, and I found myself drawn to the stunning Palais Garnier – that breathtaking theatre from my favourite ballet film! Can you believe they were staging The Sleeping Beauty with Sylvie Guillem and Nicolas Le Riche! My heart skipped a beat just picturing their exquisite performance! Talk about ballet royalty!
Next, it was onto the Royal Opera House in London. My oh my, they were in the midst of their festive season, presenting the timeless classic, The Nutcracker! The beautiful costumes and dazzling set designs are simply a must-see, and I managed to snatch up a vintage playbill as a memento for my collection. I love keeping little pieces of ballet history!
It wouldn't be a ballet tour without a trip to New York, right? In this case, it was to the majestic Metropolitan Opera House, home to American Ballet Theatre (ABT). December was full of delights, with the likes of Giselle and Don Quixote on the repertoire. I heard the dancers were absolutely brilliant, with stunning choreography and incredibly graceful leaps! My feet are just itching for a class, but we’ve got more time travel to do.
My rucksack is getting quite full! I can't wait to add these stories to my collection! And as I write, I can’t help but wonder what wonderful ballets will grace the stage in December 2001 – I’m absolutely bursting to find out!
A Touch of Glamour in Time
You know, I adore the fashions of this era – all that elegance and sophistication! This December, I found myself admiring a collection of ballet shoes on sale – all sparkly pink and satin. I just had to have them, even if they were just a bit too big for me! Perhaps my Magic Meg can try them on, she certainly deserves them for all her hard work!
Oh, and you can’t talk about 2000 without mentioning Destiny's Child! My, oh, my, their song "Say My Name" was an absolute sensation. I must confess, their sassy style is almost as captivating as a beautiful ballet sequence – not to be missed, darling!
It's Time to Dance!
But, the best part of any journey is sharing it with you! You can follow my adventures and explore my photos on www.pink-tutu.com. Who knows what amazing ballet wonders I’ll discover next! Remember to check back for more ballet tales and, if you feel inspired, hop in your pink tutu and start your own ballet adventures! I love seeing all the lovely ballet photos you share.
As for me, I have a dance recital to perform! All for you, darlings. I’ve designed a pink tutu ballet sequence with shimmering lights. It’s my favourite part, sharing my passion and maybe inspiring someone else to join the world of ballet. So, until next month, happy twirling and keep those pink tutus twirling!
Yours in ballet,
Emma x
