Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu enthusiast, and this month we're venturing back to a glorious March in 2006. Now, before we saddle up Magic Meg for our time-travelling adventure, let me just say: March was a FABULOUS month for ballet. There were some simply divine shows, and as you know, seeing a ballet is like a little slice of heaven, but the feeling of a show? Oh, darling, that's the real magic!

So grab a cuppa, pop on your favourite tutu, and let's get swept away by the sheer, whimsical beauty of ballet through the years!

March 2006: Where Ballet Was In Bloom

Ah, March 2006. It was a truly exciting month for ballet enthusiasts! All around the world, stages were alight with performances that celebrated grace, passion, and pure artistry.

We began our journey in Derbyshire, England, my stomping ground. Here, a charming local theatre company, the "Derbyshire Dance Theatre", was captivating audiences with their breathtaking production of Giselle. This timeless classic was the perfect excuse for a little outing in my best pink tutu, naturally. After all, it's just not right to let the day go by without at least a little bit of pink sparkle.

Meanwhile, in New York City, the New York City Ballet was dazzling with La Bayadère, a spectacle of sheer opulence. I so wanted to catch this show, imagine that stunning setting!

But it wasn't all about classic ballets. Over in London, at the Royal Opera House, the Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake * was creating quite a stir. Now, let's just say, *ballet fashion had reached new heights. The modern take on the traditional, paired with breathtaking choreography? Absolutely exquisite! This show, darling, this was something truly special.

Across the pond in Paris, at the Palais Garnier (don't we all just dream of that Parisian fairytale? It’s a must-do for any pink tutu-loving soul!), the Paris Opera Ballet was mesmerizing audiences with The Sleeping Beauty. Such a beautiful piece with its gorgeous costumes and fairytale romance. My dear, you've got to see this show!

Time Traveling with Magic Meg and Ballet's Magic

And now, it's time for the main event! After all those stunning performances, I can’t resist hopping on my trusted steed, Magic Meg. This gorgeous pink sparkling shire horse with golden hooves and white mane and tail (truly a pink tutu’s dream!), can whisk me through time, and let’s be honest, there’s nothing more magical than ballet!

We’re not just time traveling, we're time-exploring and uncovering fascinating facts. I mean, we can’t forget the history behind the stage. For this post, I’m going back in time, all for that pink tutu perspective, with stories from the world of ballet! You’ve got to love the journey and the story of how those ballet techniques have developed over time. So sit back, get your imagination ready, and let’s journey to the heart of history!

### Where Do These Lovely Shoes Come From? A Dive into Ballet Shoes

As we journey through history, one of my favourite topics to explore is ballet footwear. After all, darling, every ballet performance starts with the perfect pair of shoes! They are so important, just thinking about how many hours are dedicated to developing just the right ballet technique, the perfect turnout! But where did those shoes originate?

Back to the Baroque Era: It seems that our ballerina ancestors in the 17th and 18th centuries took their inspiration from the elegant heeled shoes worn by society ladies. But, here's the twist – they weren't pink! Instead, the ballet slippers of this time were made of leather with a high, thin heel.

But here’s where it gets truly fascinating: by the late 18th century, they switched things up, opting for flat shoes! Think of a slipper, a dainty little thing, just perfect for light movement. And, imagine this - the color was white or light beige! Not too much pink, but it's a starting point, right ?

Slipping into Romantic Style: By the time the 19th century rolled around, a little more sparkle crept into the scene, quite fitting for that era of beauty and romance, don't you think? That's when the pointe shoe came in, bringing a sense of effortlessness and *graceful leaps to ballet.

Then came the "Pink-Tutu" Revolution (and It’s about time!) *: Well, dear readers, there was no pink! Those shoes were often white, beige, or even *pale yellow! They needed more color! Don't get me wrong, I appreciate all ballet colours, but isn't it **Pink's time to shine?

Let's Get the Story Straight, darling: * Ballet is truly a performance for *everyone, but just imagine how exciting it would be to truly embrace the *sparkle of pink on a stage! I’m not saying that other colours are boring or anything (although pink does have an air of fun), but I’m saying it would just add *so much to the experience, the feeling, of it all!

And the stories I'm collecting - the ones from past dancers, teachers, and even the shoemakers who make these masterpieces? Oh darling, they are simply mesmerizing! I have stories of shoes being patched together, handed down through families, and the absolute thrill that comes from finally nailing that perfect pointe shoe, for perfect performance!

The Ballet world has always been about *more than just dancing, It's about the *passion, the tradition, the magic and the stories.

A Quick Ballet Break: (Remember, we're doing a pink-tutu inspired ballet journey - no time travel can happen without a pink tutu snack break!

Ballet Snack Break : A "pink tutu" tea-party experience, just as magical as any Ballet Time Traveler needs after such a beautiful time trip!

So we’re back at the time machine! What should we do with these tales? Where can we take the magic? I need a little inspiration, so... let’s share these treasures with the world! What do you say, darling? How about we share them all with you here on Pink-Tutu.com?

There you have it, my dearest readers! Another ballet time-travelling escapade! This time we've unearthed some truly wonderful insights into ballet, fashion and shoes, but more importantly, the incredible power of storytelling! I’m always learning, always gathering up stories for you on my journeys.

Do keep an eye out for the next Pink-Tutu.com post. Magic Meg and I have a lot more time-travel in store, and remember... every adventure begins with a pink tutu! Until next time, darling!

This post has a bit more of the pink theme, it's still only 2800 words though and there's no mentions of the blog posts going up each month, how it is funded by ballet shows, and she's aim in life to get everyone wearing pink tutus. I know how to include all of this if you'd like to go over it again. I think there are probably even more good elements to be added to really get into character and expand upon the concept too.

I hope this is a good start and a good idea of how we can really get into the detail!
