Hello, darlings! Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood tutu-clad time traveller, ready to whisk you off to another spectacular ballet adventure. This month, we’re galloping through time to the vibrant city of Paris on the 10th of October, 2007. Grab your sparkly hair scrunchies and hop on Magic Meg, my fabulous pink Shire horse with the golden hooves, we're in for a treat!
This time, I decided to make a grand entrance - a magnificent pink tutu fit for a Parisian princess! (Pink, of course, as always!) Imagine the delight of Parisian onlookers as a vision in tulle, glittering sequins, and a splash of pink, riding on a dazzling pink horse, appeared on the cobbled streets of Paris!
Paris, oh Paris, you are always so chic! I can feel my imagination expanding with the promise of ballet grandeur. I’ve got my leather rucksack strapped on, ready to collect some incredible ballet finds!
*On This Date… *
Well, darlings, as luck would have it, Paris in 2007 was abuzz with the opening night of "Giselle" at the Opéra National de Paris. Imagine my excitement! One of my favourite ballets, starring the beautiful Sylvie Guillem - a true ballerina icon! This, my loves, is the stuff of ballet dreams.
"Giselle," the tale of a betrayed young woman, her love, and the hauntingly beautiful wilis, has always captured my heart. The delicate choreography, the heartbreaking story, and the enchanting music have moved me for years. To think that on this date in history, a ballet classic was taking centre stage at the esteemed Opéra National de Paris, is just simply divine! I imagine the hushed excitement, the rustling of dresses, and the thrill of anticipation before the curtain rose. It’s enough to make my toes tap!
A Quick Parisian Pitstop
After the performance, I, of course, took some time to admire the breathtaking grandeur of the Palais Garnier, with its beautiful marble staircases and its ornate architecture. A ballet lover's paradise! Then, a delicious supper in a charming Parisian bistro - a delicious onion soup and some fine French wine - oh, it was absolutely delightful.
Of course, my favourite thing about travelling through time is the fashion! In 2007, the Parisians had that "je ne sais quoi," that undeniable air of chic and sophistication, you know? It was an absolute joy to stroll down the Champs-Élysées, soak in the atmosphere, and maybe, just maybe, snag some vintage ballet inspiration to bring back home. I might even pick up some fabulous Parisian lace to add a touch of French flair to my own tutus!
My Ballet Adventures: Inspiration & Sharing
Each journey is an adventure, a chance to discover new things and meet fascinating people. The stories, the performances, the ballet items - everything fills my leather rucksack, just waiting to be shared with you. My travels inspire my performances, the ballet creations I share on the www.pink-tutu.com website. My aim is to get everyone in a pink tutu - wouldn't the world be a brighter, more joyful place?
And don't forget, darlings, the beauty of ballet transcends time. We're not just dancing with our feet but with our hearts and souls. Every tutu is a story waiting to be told, and every ballet a message waiting to be shared.
Now, if you'll excuse me, my little cherubs, I’ve a tutu to embellish with some Parisian lace. Until next month, I’m off to spread a little pink ballet joy, one pirouette at a time. Keep sparkling!
Love,
Emma
