Hello my darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad time-traveller, and welcome to my little corner of the internet, www.pink-tutu.com! Today, I'm taking you on a whirlwind journey to October 2008, and trust me, you won't want to miss it.
This month's journey, which I travelled on my trusty steed, Magic Meg (who, if you don't know, is a glorious pink-sparkling Shire horse with golden hooves, a white mane, and tail to die for!) was utterly exhilarating. My leather rucksack is practically bursting with memories and trinkets from this fabulous year in ballet history.
As I gallop through the cobblestones of London, the air alive with the sound of carriage wheels and the aroma of fresh pastries, my mind wanders to all the exciting events happening in the world of ballet this October 2008. I imagine the hushed anticipation as audiences take their seats at the Royal Opera House, the shimmer of costumes under the theatre lights, and the delicate grace of the dancers.
The Royal Ballet Company is busy preparing for its Autumn season, and one particularly enticing production is their new take on Kenneth MacMillan's "Manon." It's set to be a dramatic affair, with gorgeous sets and costumes that I bet have all the perfect pops of pink. And the rumour mill whispers about a new prima ballerina who's taking the stage by storm... imagine my excitement! I've got my eye out for some fabulous pink accessories from this era. Maybe a feathery boa or a pair of dramatic earrings to match my own vintage pink tutu.
Meanwhile, over in the heart of New York City, the New York City Ballet is having its own "gala," a dazzling spectacle filled with some of the biggest names in the ballet world. I hear they're showcasing "Symphony in C" and "Agon." You bet I'll be whipping out my tutu and taking some notes for my own future performances - they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?
As always, the world of ballet is full of vibrant colours and exciting possibilities, and October 2008 is no exception. And as I step out of the bustling city, Magic Meg and I will be setting our sights on new destinations. Who knows where we'll end up next month? Perhaps Paris, maybe Vienna - the world of ballet awaits, and I'll be there to share every graceful twirl and every pirouette with you.
So, grab your favourite pink tutu and a cuppa, darlings. This journey is just getting started!
What I collected this month:
- A beautifully bound copy of "Manon" by Kenneth MacMillan
- A stunning photo of the new prima ballerina at the Royal Ballet
A tiny "souvenir" program from the New York City Ballet gala
*And of course, a few snaps of my time travelling outfit for the month: *
- My dazzling pink tutu, trimmed with delicate silver embroidery and a tulle cascade
- A vintage silk blouse in a beautiful blush pink hue
- My trusty leather rucksack (with an array of pockets for collecting trinkets and ballet ephemera)
- And naturally, my pink riding boots, perfect for my adventures on Magic Meg.
Until next month, my dear readers. May your steps always be light, and your smiles as radiant as a pink ballerina's tutu. Happy twirling!
