Pink Tutu Travels - Blog Post #4195: A 1910 Ballet Bonanza!

Hello my lovely tutu-loving readers! It’s Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood pink-tutu-clad time traveller, ready to whisk you off on another enchanting ballet adventure! This month, we’re going right back to July 2010, a truly magnificent time for all things ballet. I'll bet you can't guess where I've been this time… let me just grab a pink macaroon and tell you all about it!

Oh, my dearest tutu-wearers, you won’t believe the adventure Magic Meg and I have just had! Imagine this: a sparkling pink shimmer, golden hooves gleaming in the sunlight, a white mane and tail flowing like a silken ribbon – yes, it’s Magic Meg, my trusty steed and time-travelling partner in pink! We set off from Derbyshire, a gentle breeze tugging at my pink tutu, and before you knew it, we were… drumroll please… Paris, July 2010!

As I trotted Magic Meg through the vibrant streets, a true Parisian ballet symphony unfolded before me. Shops were buzzing with the most divine ballet outfits, dazzling shades of pink that made my heart sing! Think flowing tulle skirts, bejewelled bodices, and exquisite pink ballet shoes. It was heaven for a ballerina! Oh, how I longed to step inside each of those fabulous boutiques and indulge in the perfect ballet wardrobe! But alas, time travel has its limitations, my dear friends!

Paris in July 2010 wasn't just about shopping. The city was teeming with ballet life, filled with excitement and anticipation. Imagine the thrill of catching a sneak peek at the premiere of ‘On the Town’ by Jerome Robbins! It's a ballet set in New York, brimming with youthful energy and dazzling choreography. Even as we flew through time, the music still echoed in my heart. What a truly wonderful ballet treat, and I know, even with the time-travelling dust settling, you are just dying to experience it yourselves!

Next, I journeyed over to the charming city of San Sebastian in Spain where the ‘Festival Internacional de Cine de San Sebastián’ was in full swing! I could practically feel the anticipation building. You see, it was in 2010 that a phenomenal dance film ‘Dance Me’ by director Damian Romeo had its international premiere here, exploring the breathtaking world of professional ballet dancers and their struggles! It made my heart beat a little faster to imagine the beauty and drama unfolding on screen, their dedication truly inspiring!

Oh, and while I'm at it, can you believe the excitement in Moscow? The Bolshoi Ballet was holding its "Bolshoi Summer Festival," which was nothing short of breathtaking. You can’t mention Bolshoi without the legendary Tchaikovsky and his spellbinding "Swan Lake" ballet - what a magnificent creation, bringing stories and characters to life in an extraordinary symphony of movement. I know for a fact that dancers from across the world were inspired by it, adding their own magical touch to the legacy!

Every turn in July 2010 was filled with wonder. We rode through breathtaking performances, met charming dancers with dreams as bright as their tutus, and I even tucked away a few exquisite pink ballet shoes into my leather rucksack as a souvenir! And of course, I had a few delicious pink macarons to sweeten the journey home, oh la la!

My time-travelling adventures may be fast-paced, but they’re also about the joy of discovering stories, meeting incredible people, and soaking in the energy of history. Each journey allows me to bring the spirit of the past alive in a vibrant pink tutu. And my darling readers, you are a part of that too.

Remember, even when we're separated by time and distance, ballet binds us. So let’s keep spreading the love of ballet! Share your favourite ballet memories in the comments, let's inspire one another with the beauty of the art form, and let's make the world a pink tutu paradise!

Until next month, my dearest ballet lovers!
