Oh darling dears! It’s Emma here, and what a day to be time-travelling! February 14th, 2014, the day of love! Naturally, we have to discuss ballet and love – and where better to do it than in the past? I’m off on another magnificent time-travel adventure, this time with a delightful twist!
This month, Magic Meg, my trusty pink sparkling Shire horse with the most exquisite golden hooves and white mane and tail, has taken us right back to the very year my fabulous pink tutu was designed! Can you imagine?! My darling tutu is as chic today as it was in 2014! It simply transcends time!
I was so excited, I could hardly saddle up Meg. The Derbyshire hills seemed to hum with anticipation. But there was more – I felt this strange pull, a sort of connection to this year. It’s like I’ve been here before, just in another life.
Anyway, Meg was happy, we were happy, and the wind seemed to be swirling pink and sparkly, much like Meg's tail!
The Ballet World in 2014: What a Time to Be Alive!
Ah, 2014, what a year! There was so much exciting ballet going on. You just can’t compare it to some of those boring ballets from the 19th century (don't get me wrong, I love those too, but they need a touch more pizzazz!). But, 2014, darling! It was bursting with style. The ballet world was positively rocking with all things pink and tutu, a symphony of beautiful performances.
First, let's talk about The Royal Ballet - they had a smashing premiere of "Woolf Works" – a triple-bill, the whole lot, all inspired by the extraordinary Virginia Woolf. There was a brilliant dance interpretation of her famous novel "Mrs. Dalloway," a more melancholic work called "The Hours," and another, "The Sea," a real tear-jerker. If you can even imagine ballet tears – I mean, my darlings, how can we cry when our dancing is so magical? But, alas, I’m rambling!
Right, back to 2014! And of course, the most fabulous thing of all was the stunning “Giselle” - starring the fabulous Marianela Núñez! You know I just had to have a glimpse! Imagine, darlings, Núñez dancing Giselle’s iconic death scene – such raw emotion! She captured the tragedy of the betrayed Giselle beautifully! My dear friends, I assure you, she had every one in the audience mesmerised!
A Ballet Shopping Spree - London’s Calling!
Speaking of London, we made our way straight there. I had to find that fabulous shop in Covent Garden. What is that darling shop called again? I can never remember, so many pretty tutus, and so very stylish, darling. A proper tutu destination – it even had those chic, modern tutus that look great on and off the stage! Well, you know, off-stage you need an extra dash of that extra something that really makes your style pop. That special touch is something a true ballerina knows, darling!
Back to My Darling Tutu - the Queen of Style!
As you all know, my time-travel backpack is where I keep all my magical finds, and for my 2014 collection, of course I had to add this fabulous, almost life-sized pink, satin-wrapped box of tutu wonders - it's got the best-designed tutus, so chic, so exquisite! Every single one is beautifully crafted. I swear I’ll even wear the packaging as a bag – it's a work of art, so much glamour!
But for today, back to my own fabulous pink tutu - it's time for another dance class. My local studio has the most amazing instructor – she’s almost as fabulous as I am! And darling, imagine this, she is starting a new ballet course, with the emphasis on pink tutus and elegance - just like my motto: “Pink Tutued & Pretty”. Isn’t it absolutely splendid?
Remember darlings, we need to share this fabulous pink tutu world with the entire globe! Everyone, every single one of you, deserves to experience this joy and freedom of dancing in a beautiful pink tutu – why, it's the best thing ever! Just like a sparkling tiara, but more magical, because it sends us swirling into a pink fantasy of our own!
Tune in next month, my darlings!
