Hello my lovelies! Emma here, and welcome to another month of Pink-Tutu adventures! As you all know, time travel isn't a walk in the park. Especially when you're a girl with a passion for ballet, pink tutus, and all things sparkly! It's not all tutus and tiaras, I promise! There are hidden stories and a whole lot of historical glamour to be discovered along the way.
This month, my pink sparkly steed, Magic Meg, galloped us back to… drumroll… May 2014! Now, if you’re a bit of a ballet history buff, then you’ll know this was a pretty exciting month.
A Grand Evening at The Bolshoi
Let me tell you, we were so lucky to be in Moscow for the start of this month! You see, dear readers, the Bolshoi Theatre hosted a spectacular production of Giselle, starring none other than the lovely Svetlana Zakharova! This legendary ballerina truly gave a performance to remember. Watching her artistry in such an iconic venue was truly magical. We were completely mesmerised by the swirling tutus, the elegant choreography, and the raw passion poured out onto the stage.
Beyond the Curtain After the performance, I wandered into the bustling city centre, my pink tutu twirling ever so slightly. It seemed everyone in Moscow was buzzing about the Bolshoi, discussing the costumes, the choreography, everything! It was truly a special moment to be surrounded by such shared excitement for ballet.
More Than a Stage
Later that week, we found ourselves in London, eager to soak up the city’s vibrant ballet scene. We caught a stunning performance of Swan Lake at the Royal Opera House. I absolutely adored the graceful movements, the haunting music, and of course, the delicate ballerina swans – those tutus were to die for!
Fashion-Forward and Tutu-fied
After that, I indulged in some shopping! You see, every trip has to have a dash of fashion. This month, my love of pink tulle and luxurious fabrics had me dreaming up a new tutu. I discovered this darling shop nestled in the heart of Soho, a haven of gorgeous silk fabrics, colourful beads, and gorgeous lace trims – a tutu enthusiast’s dream!
Lessons and Stories from a Leather Rucksack
Remember that lovely leather rucksack I always carry? Filled to the brim with bits and pieces from my travels, this one is extra special! My notebook’s filled with drawings from the ballet schools, costume sketches I found at the theatre, and little details of the stories from this time, such as the exciting new “ballet fashion trends” from 2014. I mean, just imagine, everyone in sparkly leg warmers and neon tutus!
Sharing My Love of Ballet
Sharing my love of ballet with all of you, dear readers, is the reason I prance through the annals of time! My favourite part of each adventure? Meeting dancers and enthusiasts just like you, across all eras, across all cultures. We might look different, we might have different styles, but our shared passion for the magic of ballet binds us together.
I hope these stories have inspired you to discover the history of ballet, embrace the elegance of tutus, and maybe even learn a few pirouettes yourselves! Remember, darlings, if you have any stories or experiences you want to share with me, please do! Let’s bring back the love for all things ballet!
See you next month! XOXO, Emma
