Hello darling dears, and welcome back to my humble blog! This month's journey finds me skipping through time, and trust me, I am positively tickled pink! As you all know, I, Emma, have a particular love for pink tutus, a deep fascination with the history of ballet, and an incurable craving for the grace and artistry of the dance. Oh, and letâs not forget about my fabulous pink steed, Magic Meg! (Have you seen those golden hooves? Absolutely divine!). So buckle up, because itâs time to travel back to November 2017 â a year teeming with captivating ballet happenings.
A Look Back at Ballet in November 2017
Oh, the world of ballet was alive and kicking in November 2017! Across the globe, the most beautiful ballet performances were unfolding, from the iconic stages of Londonâs Royal Opera House to the grand theaters of Paris.
My eyes, which, as you all know, have a particular penchant for shimmering tulle, were glued to the Royal Opera House, where Giselle was enthralling audiences. Ah, the drama of it all! Giselle, the heartbroken peasant girl transformed into a spirit of vengeance, is one of my favourite ballets. Imagine, a ballet with ghosts? The stuff of pure magic, don't you think? And that soaring adagio in Act II? It simply takes my breath away. The performance in 2017 featured the stunning ballerina Natalia Osipova, known for her elegance and artistry, dancing with the dashing, passionate Sergei Polunin. Imagine their costumes shimmering under the stage lights â a symphony of pastel colours and fluttering tulle, absolute perfection!
Paris, the city of lights, was also embracing the magic of ballet with The Nutcracker taking centre stage. This seasonal classic is as enchanting as it is nostalgic. My dear readers, imagine those adorable mice and sugar plum fairies, the tinkling music, and the story that sweeps you away to a fantastical world. The iconic Opéra Garnier in Paris was a perfect stage for this beloved story, bringing together talent, artistry, and an element of pure, whimsical joy.
Now, remember my lovely rucksack, the one filled with ballet treasures? In November 2017, my collection expanded, and how! The Giselle programme from the Royal Opera House, a programme from the Opéra Garnier showcasing The Nutcracker, a few snippets of Parisian fashion magazines with the stunning Giselle dancers featured in them⊠such an amazing trove!
But you know me, my love doesnât just stop at grand performances and shimmering tulle. I simply adore the entire world of ballet, even those small details that make the bigger picture complete. In 2017, the world of ballet fashion was ablaze with stunning creations, each more fabulous than the next. Ballet wear was evolving, incorporating pops of colour, striking patterns, and innovative designs. A beautiful array of ballet flats were emerging too, the perfect footwear for an afternoon stroll in the park, if I may say so myself!
My Time Travelling Adventure
With my trusty Magic Meg by my side, we galloped through time to 2017, her pink sparkle matching the bright lights of the Royal Opera House. My pink tulle tutu danced with me as we floated past the grand marble foyer, a cloud of pastel pink delight in a sea of elegance. As the lights dimmed and the orchestra began to play, I felt a familiar, giddy sensation. Ballet!
Of course, a pink tutu cannot go unnoticed. Many pairs of eyes stared, intrigued, at my pink whirlwind. Some even inquired about my travelling methods, so, as per usual, I spilled the tea about Magic Meg, explaining my unique and (in my opinion) quite fabulous way of exploring time. Their smiles, wide with amusement and wonder, were just the sweetest.
And yes, dear readers, I didn't simply watch â I also danced! Oh, I was simply thrilled to find myself swept up in the joyous rhythm of the world's biggest ballet performance â the Giselle show at the Royal Opera House. In 2017, the world of ballet was abuzz, and I was at the epicentre of it all, gliding and twirling like a little pink ballerina, quite the vision in my custom-made pink tutu.
After our Giselle encounter, we travelled on to the French capital, where the magical world of the Nutcracker unfolded, complete with dazzling sets and delightful costuming. There, the Opéra Garnier's grand staircase became a runway for my own personal fashion show as I showcased my favourite pink tutus. The audience's applause and the delighted gleam in their eyes warmed me more than the most delicious chocolat chaud.
Time Travel Lessons Learned
Every time-travel adventure leaves me enriched and brimming with inspiration. November 2017 reaffirmed my belief that the magic of ballet transcends time. Whether itâs a grand performance at a legendary opera house or a casual ballet class in a local studio, the passion for dance is universal.
You know what they say â âpractice makes perfect!â And youâll never guess where I picked that up â November 2017. Imagine, my darling dears, I witnessed the dedication, discipline, and pure joy that go into training to become a ballerina.
Every moment, I was soaking up the inspiring world of ballet, from the grand theaters and their bustling backstage to the local dance studios. Every ballerina's journey â from novice to professional, from local stages to international platforms â is an embodiment of dreams, determination, and artistry.
This trip solidified my belief that every girl, every woman deserves to feel like a ballerina at least once in her life.
My Tutu Inspiration
Have you ever thought of adding a splash of pink to your ballet attire? I find the colour adds a sense of playful joy, confidence, and of course, a dash of timeless elegance! A pink tutu paired with a simple ballet class leotard, now that's a winning combination! But that's not all, dear readers! Remember the exquisite ballet shoes I spotted during my adventures? From dainty pink satin flats to ballet slippers embellished with a sprinkle of sequins, my heart was aflutter with sheer delight. The perfect pink shoe is out there for every dancer, just waiting to be discovered.
My quest continues to encourage every soul to dance with the joy and confidence that only a pink tutu can provide. Because, you know what? The world would be a whole lot brighter if we all embraced a touch of pink!
This post marks #4283 in my journey! Every journey, like my love for pink, is a journey of joy. Come back next month to follow me as I time travel to more beautiful and inspiring moments in the captivating world of ballet.
Until then, embrace your inner ballerina, keep your tutus bright, and donât be afraid to chase your own dreams!
With a flutter and a twirl,
Emma x
