Pink Tutu Travels: February 2019, A Whirlwind Through Ballet History - Post #4298

Hello darlings, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Travels! This month we're twirling back to February 2019. It's always a delight to jump back in time and see what the world of ballet was up to.

It's hard to believe, but it's already been four years since 2019! It feels like just yesterday I was waltzing through the Royal Opera House, mesmerised by a breathtaking production of Giselle. Oh, darling, the costumes, the artistry, the magic - absolutely divine!

But I digress. Back to February 2019!

My Travels:

This month, Magic Meg, my pink-sparkling shire horse with her golden hooves and white mane and tail, whisked me away to the beautiful city of Paris, France. Paris! Just the name itself makes me swoon! You see, February 2019 was the perfect time to visit, as the Palais Garnier was celebrating the bicentenary of Marie Taglioni's birth! Imagine, darling, a legendary ballerina celebrating her two hundredth birthday! They held a whole special exhibition, with letters, costumes, and even choreography books. My dear, I just had to take my pink leather rucksack, filled with my precious memories and ballet stories from every era, to document this exciting time. I can’t wait to share it all with you.

Fashion and Frou-Frou

Now, darling, a ballet exhibition would be incomplete without the fashion! Oh, I was just tickled pink to see Taglioni's original costumes! The intricate detail, the beautiful fabrics - absolutely stunning! Those early ballerinas, so ethereal in their diaphanous tutus, their dancing light as a feather. And talking of tutus, my dear, the Palais Garnier’s shop had the most fabulous collection. They even had a pale pink tutu just for me! I was quite the vision!

A Look at The Shows

But Paris wasn't just about history. The Palais Garnier had a spectacular programme that month. The Ballet de l'OpĆ©ra national de Paris were presenting Romeo and Juliet, a poignant classic with an exceptional choreography. And, if that wasn’t enough, the Russian Bolshoi Ballet was also on the scene with a breathtaking performance of Swan Lake! It’s quite enough to send any tutu-lover into a delightful flurry.

The Tutu Diaries - Spread the Love:

While I was gallivanting around Paris, there were some fantastic shows happening closer to home! Back in the UK, the Royal Ballet had just finished an electrifying run of ā€œManonā€ and, at the same time, English National Ballet was charming audiences with a glorious production of ā€œSleeping Beauty.ā€ Oh, I can just imagine the breathtaking costumes and those iconic sleeping scenes - just glorious!

Back in Derbyshire, darling, things were hopping as well! Our local amateur company, The Peak Dancers, was in the middle of a dazzling ā€œAlice in Wonderlandā€ production. Just thinking about their beautiful, brightly-coloured costumes is making me blush! The whole thing sounded so whimsical and delightful.

Darling, there is nothing like experiencing a live performance of a ballet classic! It fills me with a thrill of joy that just makes my heart sing.

Spreading The Tutu Love

Now, don’t think this is just about the shows, darlings! There’s more to the story. The excitement of February 2019 had me whirling with a very special mission - my very own "pink tutu project."

It started when I saw a tweet about a ballet class in Nottinghamshire for girls from all ages. And that’s when the lightbulb went off! This, my dears, is where we really start making waves! What could be more beautiful than spreading the magic of dance by encouraging the next generation of young ballerinas to put on a pink tutu and twirl their worries away? I had my work cut out for me - my very own ballet crusade!

So I sent an email to the organisers, promising to provide my favourite ā€œEmma’s Pink Tutu Tipsā€, and oh, let me tell you, I made a list for them, filled with pink tutu ideas: tips on how to pick the right pink tutu, how to twirl it perfectly, and the importance of choosing the perfect colour - of course, we love a bright pink!

My vision, darlings, is to get the whole world wearing a pink tutu! Pink tutus, darling, represent happiness, creativity, and sheer delight. I want every little girl, and boy, for that matter, to discover the joy of dance. They need to discover the magic of a pink tutu!

Stay tuned, darlings! Next month I’ll be exploring the wonders of ballet in March 2019! What stories will unfold, what shows will be taking the world by storm? Stay tuned, I will let you know! Until then, I hope you have a very pink and magical month. Remember, my lovely followers, life’s a dance, so twirl with style and spread the love!

Your Emma, xo
