Pink Tutu Time Travels: June 2020, Post #4314 🩰💖

Hello, my darlings! It's Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu-wearing time traveller, back with another fabulous blast from the ballet past!

This month, we're jetting off to... well, we're not really jetting off, are we? Magic Meg and I are going to gallop into the past on our time travel journey to the exciting date of... June 2020! 💖

Oh, how I adore this era! It was a whirlwind of ballet brilliance! From online shows to groundbreaking choreographies, the world of dance was bubbling over with energy and creativity!

But first, before we dive into the historical ballet happenings, I've got to share my new totally pink ensemble! It's a fluffy, dreamy number that's sure to have you saying, "Ooh la la!". It's a cloud-soft pink tutu with delicate shimmering butterflies embroidered all over it! Just picture it, dear readers: a delicate blush, fluttery wings, and me, gliding effortlessly across the stage! Oh, my heart is bursting with excitement just thinking about it!

Right, let's whisk ourselves back to June 2020, shall we? As usual, Magic Meg and I have a full itinerary to keep us busy!

First, let's catch up with the Royal Opera House! I hear they had a fabulous digital performance, a pre-recorded showing of "La Fille Mal Gardée". Such an exciting blend of artistry and technology! Speaking of technology, this was the era when Zoom and live streaming became dance stars in their own right! So exciting for us dancers who love sharing our passion with the world.

I simply had to check out the New York City Ballet's programme for June. They were, get this, doing Swan Lake in a brand new version! A complete reinvention of a classic? Sounds like my cup of tea! It makes me want to grab a comfy chair, put on a sparkling pink ballet wrap (my current favourite!) and snuggle in for an online spectacle. Oh, to see how they recreated that magic on a digital platform!

Speaking of magic, the National Ballet of Canada had Giselle planned! My absolute favourite story! A ballet packed with heartbreak and romantic dreams, this show truly brings out the heartstrings. Imagine seeing that played out on stage, a flurry of tulle and exquisite emotions swirling together... magical!

Even the English National Ballet were going digital with a show of "Sleeping Beauty" - a wonderfully enchanting story about love and a sleepy princess!

Isn't it amazing how ballet, despite the changes in the world, manages to reach out to us through different avenues? Technology might have made it possible to access ballet shows in June 2020 in completely new ways, but the beauty, grace, and powerful emotion remained the same.

My rucksack is overflowing with incredible stories of dancers, costumes, and even a beautiful vintage poster for Giselle I found tucked away in a theatre archives!

We’re going to pop off to some ballet shops in the heart of London - they must have had a dazzling display of dancewear, and oh my, I just need to find a new sparkly pink pair of ballet slippers to go with my new tutu! I adore all things pink, but I love pink shoes just that little bit more! They bring me joy! I hope we get lucky - some shops were closed at the time. If I can’t find what I want, I can always try a pink online boutique. I wonder if the designs of the time have aged well!

This whole experience has me absolutely thrilled! The time travel feels incredibly powerful - it connects me to the past, and makes me wonder, what will the future of ballet be like? Will people be doing virtual reality ballets?

Don’t forget to visit my website www.pink-tutu.com to read all about my past travels and what’s coming up! 💖 And let me know, dear readers: What’s your favourite ballet of all time? Leave a comment and share your love for the beautiful world of dance with me!

Until next time, keep dancing! 🩰💕
