Pink Tutu Travels: September 2020 – A Ballerina's Dream in a bygone Era

Hello my lovelies! It's Emma here, and welcome to another exciting entry in my time-travelling adventures on pink-tutu.com! Today's date? September 2020. And wouldn't you know it, this month was just bursting with all things ballet!

As you know, dear readers, I’m obsessed with ballet, with all its beauty, elegance and grace. I just love the feeling of twirling in my own pink tutu, and getting lost in the magical world of ballet! This month, however, was even more exciting, as I was fortunate enough to journey through time aboard my magnificent steed, Magic Meg. She’s a true vision - a shimmering pink Shire horse, all glistening hooves and flowing white mane. Meg, much like my beloved tutus, is truly magical, enabling me to explore the world of ballet throughout history.

A Look Back at September 2020 in the Ballet World

This September 2020, the world of ballet was alight with the excitement of "The Royal Ballet" showcasing its virtuosity in a glorious revival of “Swan Lake” at the Royal Opera House. Oh, the magic, the costumes, the sheer talent! I just love that classic swan theme – it truly embodies the beauty and strength of ballet.

Back in Derbyshire, the lovely ladies at the Derby Theatre were showcasing a production of "Giselle" – another favourite of mine. The story, the music, and of course, the haunting beauty of Giselle – a story which has captured my heart from the first time I heard it.

Across the world, September was full of enchanting performances – the American Ballet Theatre dazzled in “Sleeping Beauty,” and in Paris, the Ballet de l’Opéra national de Paris offered their unique interpretation of "La Bayadère". I had to pinch myself! Such talent, such artistry! The magic of ballet was alive and kicking around the globe!

My September Time Travels: Parisian Style and Viennese Waltz

Now, this is where Magic Meg and I really got our dance shoes on! We took a magical trip back to 1844 and visited Vienna! Just imagine, dear readers, being transported to a world of ballrooms glittering with crystal chandeliers, elegant couples waltzing, and music that swirled around you like a captivating dance itself. I collected a beautiful silk shawl – imagine, shimmering green silk, embellished with the finest embroidery – from an aristocratic lady at one of the many salons in Vienna. And let’s not forget the decadent pastries! Oh, they were to die for, and now I am on a quest to recreate their exquisite flavours back in the modern world! It’s safe to say my rucksack was brimming with lovely stories and memories from this trip!

From Vienna, we flew (or rather, galloped!) to 1920s Paris! A vibrant world of artistic brilliance and captivating fashion! I even got to try a few moves at the infamous Folies Bergère, which was in its glory in those days. I felt like I was stepping into a magical music hall filled with twinkling lights, and the laughter of joyful crowds. There were flapper dresses with shimmering sequins, feather boas, and yes, my dearest readers, my favourite pink! The dance floors were alive with energetic, joyous rhythms and – wait for it – I even discovered the origins of my favourite pink tutus! It appears this Parisian trend really kickstarted the global love for ballet pink.

My Mission: Share the Tutu Love

Each adventure reminds me that I want to share this joy with you! There’s no denying it – pink tutus are an absolute must for anyone who truly appreciates the magic of ballet.
