Pink Tutu Travels: December 2020 - A Ballet-Filled Century! 🩰✨

Hello my darlings! Welcome to Pink Tutu Travels, post number 4320, where we journey through time and celebrate all things ballet. I'm your guide, Emma, and this month, I'm bringing you a trip through the century of dance – December 2020!

As always, I'm donning my favourite pink tutu, it’s one of the most special ones, my Nana made it for me. It's got little pearls on it, it just sparkles! Magic Meg is saddled and ready to prance, her golden hooves glittering under the morning light. We’re going on an adventure! Today, we’ll be delving into the wonderful world of ballet – a world that’s ever-changing, ever-evolving, and eternally enchanting.

Now, I have to admit, I’ve got a bit of a backlog of stories. I’ve been dashing around quite a bit in December! But don't worry, I'll squeeze in every single tidbit of ballet brilliance.

December 2020: A Time of Uncertainty

So, what was going on in the ballet world in December 2020? Well, it was a tricky time for dancers and ballet companies across the globe, much like it was for everyone! The pandemic had swept the world, leaving many theatres and stages dark. There were concerns about the future of ballet – would the joy of dance ever return?

But as always, the ballet world is resilient. Dancers around the world found innovative ways to share their art, experimenting with online platforms and creating new virtual performances. It was truly inspiring to witness the dedication and creativity in the face of such challenges!

And wouldn't you know it, the world, and indeed the ballet world, began to get back on its feet, with some performances starting to re-emerge! This little snippet of hope, of dancing life returning, filled me with such joy – it’s what I love about ballet, that even in the darkest times, there is always light!

A Quick Dash Around the Globe 🌎

So, let’s see, where have I been? Well, firstly, I couldn’t miss the dazzling Royal Ballet's "The Nutcracker" in London. This magical performance brought a much-needed burst of festive spirit.

And as much as I adore ballet, sometimes it's good to shake things up. So, I whisked Magic Meg to Vienna. I had the most delicious strudel (and some very exciting news - I finally managed to score a stunning ballet skirt, just look at this lovely shade of pink, it's simply exquisite! My Nan will be delighted - you know how much she loves these!). While in Vienna, I stumbled upon a lovely ballet class that focused on waltz moves, it was simply gorgeous! Imagine waltzing under the Vienna skyline with those enchanting waltz moves. Pure joy!

I didn't miss my trip to Paris - you know my heart belongs to the French Ballet - and I happened upon a rather lovely show. It's hard to choose a favourite, there were so many dazzling dance moments, but I think "Giselle" did leave a lasting impression, particularly the ghostly pas de deux.

I just adore those haunting, spectral ballet stories - something about the ghostly waltz and those fluttering ethereal figures speaks to my soul! So romantic and oh, so ethereal, you just can't help but get lost in the world of magic and love.

But it's not all just beautiful stories! While in Paris, I found a beautiful pink ballerina costume - it’s so very French, chic and chic and oh, so pink - it fits me just right and oh it’s simply gorgeous.

It’s my favourite one. And with a good reason too! There is a lovely lace-like tulle fabric for the skirt - the little pink detail with the French pink ribbon really puts it all together!

Now, I know this post is already pretty lengthy, and it’s time to put Magic Meg back in her stables - it’s always tiring travelling through time – but there is still so much I want to share with you. So, join me next month for my December adventures – this is what my diary says! A look into the future of Ballet!

Now off to dance practice - got to keep these muscles in tip top shape for my upcoming shows! Remember, my darlings, the ballet world is a journey – I invite you all to take this journey with me! It’s time to put on your own pink tutu! And do make sure to join me next month.

Until next time! 🩰✨
