Dearest ballet bunnies,
Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com! Itās March already, can you believe it? The days are getting longer, the sunās getting warmer, and that can only mean one thing⦠spring is on its way! And just like the arrival of spring, a whole new set of adventures awaits us in the world of ballet. Iām Emma, your Derbyshire ballerina, and this month weāre travelling back to the whimsical world of March 2021 ā a journey I'll never forget!
As usual, my trusty steed, Magic Meg, our stunning pink sparkling Shire with golden hooves and a white mane and tail, is ready to take us back through time. With my trusty leather rucksack strapped onto my back ā perfect for collecting precious ballet mementos and untold stories ā I'm thrilled to be stepping back into history. This month's blog is extra special as it marks our 4323rd post ā it's just incredible how many wonderful discoveries weāve shared on this pink ballet journey!
But before we travel through time, letās get some fabulous ballet news. I'm simply smitten with what's on stage this month! You can catch the dazzling "Giselle" at the Royal Opera House in London. You simply can't miss the breathtakingly graceful Act II with its haunting Wilis and breathtaking scenery. I have a strong suspicion, my dears, that this performance will be selling out, so book your tickets in a flash. And donāt forget to grab a dazzling new tutu and some chic ballet accessories. You know how much I love a fabulous fashion moment!
And speaking of fabulous, letās step into the fabulous time machine⦠March 2021. It's the month that history unfolded. Remember how we all yearned to see the ballet unfold in our own theatres? The Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House started a new initiative! The amazing Royal Opera House's ballet company recorded a beautiful film called 'Dance for a Dance' of two iconic ballets - āThe Dreamā and "The Sleeping Beauty." Itās a stunning portrayal of grace and storytelling, beautifully captured on film! Just think, you could have been dancing along to this stunning film from the comfort of your own home ā how incredibly convenient! The "Dance for a Dance" project was a celebration of a century of the Royal Ballet. I loved the costumes, they are truly breathtaking. You'll find many inspiration moments on the Pink-Tutu.com website about "The Dream." It is certainly a dream ballet in itself.
In fact, March 2021 was a real triumph for ballet lovers, both young and old! Another captivating event was "Aliceās Adventures in Wonderland," an enchanting journey with the National Ballet of Canada. With spectacular costumes and innovative choreography, it brought this timeless tale to life. I canāt even describe how much fun it was to watch! Just picture yourself alongside Alice, a shimmering white rabbit leading you through this magical wonderland! I am also going to buy the ballet book as a beautiful keepsake to remember the show. It would be the perfect addition to any ballet library.
But as a little birdie told me, āAdventures await, ballerina,ā it was time to leave 2021 and step onto Magic Megās back to explore more! Our next adventure: The World Ballet Festival. A global event that brought some of the most talented ballerinas from all corners of the globe together! They all performed under one roof! Imagine the sheer joy and energy, a sea of swirling pink tutus and captivating stories unfolding across the stage! It was just the most magnificent celebration of ballet. And you know, I was lucky enough to perform on stage with some truly inspiring ballerinas, the energy was infectious. My favourite moment, my dears, was performing the Swan Lake pas de deux. Itās a classic for a reason! It showcased beauty and power in perfect balance.
We couldnāt visit this era without stopping by the Bolshoi Theatre! I felt the buzz of excitement! Ballet was very much alive! There was this incredible performance, āLe Corsaire.ā Itās the ultimate tale of adventure, with pirates and beautiful ballerinas ā an amazing blend of action and graceful elegance! Can you imagine, pirouettes with a pirate twist? That's ballet for you! It's all about beauty, power, and those fabulous pink tutus!
This journey back to 2021 reminds us that ballet is truly a global art form. Whether you are captivated by "Giselle" in London or inspired by the energy of a world festival, thereās magic in every ballet moment! Youāre never too young to begin your ballet journey. I believe everyone should learn to dance and discover the sheer joy of expression. And of course, every girl (and boy) deserves their very own pink tutu. So remember to follow my travels and discover more of the ballet world! Until next month, my darlings! Keep swirling those tutus!
Love,
Emma xxx
