Hello my lovelies,
Welcome back to Pink Tutu Travels, your monthly dose of ballet magic and time-travelling adventures! It's me, your pink tutu-clad blogger Emma, and today I'm absolutely bursting with excitement. Why, you ask? Well, prepare to be swept off your feet as I take you on a journey through time, all in the name of ballet!
It's been an absolute whirlwind since my last post. I’ve been so busy twirling, performing, and – of course – travelling through time! I’ve collected some absolute gems in my leather rucksack and I just can’t wait to share them with you!
This month marks the 4,348th post on Pink-Tutu.com and as always, my trusty steed Magic Meg is ready for our journey! With her dazzling pink coat, sparkling golden hooves, and flowing white mane and tail, she's the perfect partner for any time travel adventure.
Ballet Back in Time: 4th April 2023Buckle up, darlings, because this month we're venturing to… April 4th, 2023!
Ooh, it’s thrilling to be back in my own time. There's a whole world of exciting ballet events happening today! For instance, the Royal Opera House in London has a fabulous run of Giselle starting tonight. I hear it's a beautiful and emotional tale with amazing choreography!
This is such an important date for me. This is when I was awarded the “Pink Tutu Influencer of the Year" at the annual "Dancewear & Performing Arts Awards". Of course I wore my most glamorous pink tutu, complete with a fabulous feathered boa and sparkling embellishments. The dress, I am very proud to say, was designed by yours truly and it’s already sparked a craze across the nation! It is my mission to have every single dancer in Britain rocking a pink tutu and the media absolutely loved my "Go Pink" campaign!
I have so many incredible memories from this day and seeing all my fellow dance enthusiasts sporting a pink tutu was truly amazing! The award ceremony, which was hosted by the fabulous Darcey Bussell, was definitely a night I won't forget! I got to hobnob with some of the biggest names in the world of ballet, and let's be honest, they were just as captivated by my stunning pink tutu as I was. 😉
But, don't think for a moment that my passion is limited to contemporary trends. It’s the ballet classics that fuel my soul. And that's exactly where Magic Meg and I are heading!
19th Century Parisian BalletBuckle up lovelies, because we're time-travelling to Paris, the city of love and ballet, and the year is 1870! Oh, how I adore the 19th century! With its charming cobblestone streets, grand theaters, and, of course, exquisite ballet! Today, I will be attending a performance at the Palais Garnier opera house, where the grand ballerina Carlotta Grisi is performing a piece she created in 1841 called La Zingara which translates to "the Gypsy".
With the bustle and excitement around the Paris streets, there is just such a passion for dance. Even today, everyone knows what ballet is and many Parisian children even learn to dance before they learn to read!
Oh, how I wish we had time to explore more of Paris' beautiful shops and boutiques! But, there’s no time to stop and smell the croissants. There are so many wonders to explore throughout the years, I can barely contain my excitement. Let's just say, I’ve been doing a lot of window shopping today, hoping to bring a little bit of Paris into my modern-day wardrobe!
Speaking of shopping, a beautiful pearl-encrusted necklace, which I believe was from this time, is in my rucksack waiting for a new home. Perhaps you could find a lovely use for it! It's time for Magic Meg to whisk us back to our own time. Oh, how I wish I could explore these glorious time periods, I am utterly infatuated by everything I've experienced today!
What’s in Store for MayBut as my time travel adventures teach me every day: there is always so much more to explore. The world of ballet is full of amazing talent and beauty.
It is no coincidence that I will be spending my May travelling back to a magical night in New York to watch the incredible Mikhail Baryshnikov on the Metropolitan Opera House stage!
Stay tuned for next month's post! I have no idea what next month’s adventure will hold but I can tell you with absolute certainty that I can't wait to share it with all of you.
Until next time, my lovelies, stay chic, stay fabulous and remember: Let's all twirl our way through life with a pink tutu in our hearts!
Love,
Emma
