Hello my darling darlings! Welcome to my little corner of the internet where, as always, everything is about the beautiful ballet. This month, as always, I've donned my favourite pink tutu, packed my trusty leather rucksack, and taken my magnificent shire horse, Magic Meg, for a time travel escapade. You know me, always ready for a delightful jaunt back into ballet history!
This month, Magic Meg galloped us right back to July 2023, landing with a graceful thud on a sun-kissed cobbled street. Imagine a whirlwind of vibrant colour - it was like stepping straight into a beautiful vintage fashion magazine! Now, you all know I have a penchant for pink, but let me tell you, the fashion scene in July 2023 was brimming with breathtaking hues. Floral patterns, crisp cotton dresses, and bright bold shades - the streets were a delightful dance of style. And oh, the hats! My darling, there were hats for every occasion - straw boaters, floppy sun hats, elegant cloche hats, and more. I filled my rucksack with photos and sketches, you can imagine I was utterly mesmerised!
This month, I just had to tell you about a fabulous ballet performance that was in the world on this date, a dazzling dance of beauty! It was none other than "Sleeping Beauty" by Tchaikovsky, in the iconic and grand Royal Albert Hall. I could feel the thrill in the air, like a waltz with the breeze, before I even entered the hallowed halls! It seems they still haven’t tired of this classic ballet.
Stepping into History with Grace
As we wandered, I felt the history of the time - it buzzed and sang around us like a sweet melody. I saw shops full of vibrant floral fabrics for tutus, all manner of dance accessories, and delightful trinkets for ballet shoes, all ready for ballet classes, as dance seems to have become ever more popular - who wouldn't want to dance around and learn ballet in this gorgeous summer?
Of course, a day spent on a time-travel trip wouldn't be complete without a delicious pit stop. We visited a charming tea room nestled amidst the bustling city streets. I enjoyed a pot of delicate Earl Grey tea with dainty finger sandwiches and a slice of victoria sponge. My little Meg, well she tucked into a sugar cube, much to her delight! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, filled with friendly chatter and the gentle clinking of china. The quintessential English tea room experience, if you ask me!
A Vision of Ballet: Inspiration from the Past
We also visited a small, dusty attic crammed with old ballet magazines, and what a find they were! Imagine, photographs of elegant dancers from years gone by, the graceful movements captured in a snapshot. There were images of beautiful ballerinas twirling in intricate, feathered tutus. My heart fluttered with excitement - to see such artistry preserved like this felt magical, and they're now safely nestled in my rucksack ready to inspire my next post!
There is truly something magical about venturing back into ballet’s rich and varied past. The stories, the music, the incredible choreography - it’s all an enchanting world, ready to be discovered and celebrated. But my darling friends, my time travel mission goes beyond simply witnessing history - it’s about spreading the magic of ballet and inspiring everyone to dance with joy. Don’t you feel a little bit lighter, a little more free, simply reading about these time-traveling adventures?
Until next month, I shall keep on dreaming in pink tutus, travelling through time, and inspiring you to embrace your own inner ballerina. And remember, as I always say: A world filled with pink tutus is a more joyful place.
Love, Emma
