Hello my lovely dancers, and welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com! Today's adventure takes us on a trip back in time to May 2028, just over five years ago! As you all know, time travel is an absolute passion of mine. What could be better than combining my love of ballet with a whizz through history, all in a pink tutu? Let's just say Magic Meg and I are never short of things to do!
Right now, she's munching on sugar cubes - my beautiful shire mare, Magic Meg, can’t resist a little treat – whilst I gather my thoughts. I mean, you know how much I love a bit of ballet fashion. I always pick up treasures from the past. That wonderful little Victorian era dance shoe, those delightful satin ballet slippers from the early 1900s... My backpack's looking a bit overloaded, and I'm already making plans for some serious alterations! But, of course, that's part of the fun!
So, where did Magic Meg whisk us off to in May 2028?
Well, this month, it's all about celebrating the grand history of ballet, a history packed full of iconic performances and amazing choreography, and oh, how I love a bit of theatre history. We’re taking a wander around London (did I tell you my ballet shoes look fabulous with London’s cobbles?) for a taste of what’s on in the world of dance this month…
It's been a particularly thrilling time for ballet with Royal Opera House absolutely rocking the scene. You can bet your bottom dollar that the likes of me would be popping along to a performance, especially in a new tutu from my secret stash. My eyes were sparkling when I saw Margot Fonteyn (an absolute ballet icon – check her out on Youtube!), alongside Rudolf Nureyev (who I hear is also the apple of the nation's eyes). The magic, the grace, the artistry – what a privilege it was to watch these two legends on stage! Their performance of “La Sylphide” (an absolutely breathtaking piece, and perfect for those romantic souls amongst us, who love the stories told in dance), made the trip truly worthwhile. Just me and Magic Meg, a pair of pink ballet shoes and a few magic whispers and… we were there! I swear I caught Margot's eye and we shared a moment. What a ballet star, she’s a real inspiration to any pink-tutu loving ballerina out there!
Of course, no trip back in time is complete without a delicious supper! Let me tell you, Victorian era food is an adventure of its own! Think decadent desserts that could fuel your performance for a week, and enough rich meat and vegetables to sustain an entire company of dancers! We treated ourselves to a slice of cake and a glass of champagne at a posh establishment, reminiscing on the evening's performance as we twirled in our pink tulle creations. You really do feel a bit special when you’re rocking a ballet tutu! It feels a little like you’re walking in the clouds!
The ballet world has always been filled with breathtaking style (just ask me!). It’s about that effortless, whimsical charm you just can't replicate in our world of modern ballet – unless, of course, you’re a true Pink-Tutu girl! Now, back in 2028, Victorian dance fashions were all the rage. We're talking big skirts, ornate corsets, and lots and lots of tulle. Why, those ballroom waltzes and fashionable performances looked straight out of my dreams! You really should pop over to my www.pink-tutu.com site and check out my photos – you’ve got to see this magical era in all its tulle glory!
This past May, the ballet scene was all about exploring the possibilities with some incredibly original choreography. There was a really unique piece that featured a female choreographer and dancer. I've got a lovely little anecdote about that, which I will be posting soon on www.pink-tutu.com so be sure to pop back for a peek, my darlings! I'm hoping to catch some of the avant-garde ballet styles popping up back then. Imagine the stories and fashions they’ve preserved in the archives! There's always something new and beautiful to discover in ballet! And believe me, we Pink-Tutu girls will be there to document it!
But enough about me – let’s get back to those pink tutus, my dears! That’s what it’s all about, isn’t it? This month’s trip to 2028 was a bit of a ballet history fest, with tons of fascinating events, fantastic ballet shoes to be admired, and fashion galore! I mean, honestly, have you ever tried to pick a perfect pink tulle from a whole stack of incredible tutus? Oh, it’s almost too exciting!
You all know how much I love to bring the past to the future and vice-versa. This is what www.pink-tutu.com is all about: sharing the stories, the experiences and the joy of the beautiful ballet world! It’s the perfect place to catch up on all the latest fashion, ballet history and show news. And you can be sure, with me, every day is an adventure.
Remember, my sweet lovelies, the next time you're at the ballet, picture yourself whirling on stage in a fabulous pink tutu – there’s no better feeling! Until next month, I shall be adding a dash of sparkle to Derbyshire, until I'm whisked off to yet another tutu-tastic adventure with my wonderful Magic Meg.
Keep those tutus twirling, my darlings!
Love and tutus,
Emma
