Hello my darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad time traveller, and I'm positively thrilled to be back with another post for you all! This month, Magic Meg, my stunning pink shire horse with the most gloriously sparkly hooves and flowing mane, has taken me on a whirlwind tour through time, landing us right smack in the middle of April 2033. Buckle up, lovelies, because this month's adventure is bursting with stories, tutus, and dazzling ballet!
Oh, did I mention I've finally finished knitting that darling pink cashmere tutu? It matches Magic Meg's pink satin saddle, which, you've got to admit, is a stunning combination! Anyway, back to 2033! As soon as I stepped off Magic Meg, I knew this era would be full of fantastic ballet happenings. After all, what better month to travel through time than April, with all the joy and excitement of the springtime blossoming in the air?
So, where in the world of ballet have I been, you ask? Well, the first stop was in the heart of London! Imagine my delight when I discovered a grand production of "The Nutcracker" at the Royal Opera House, and not just any old production! They were celebrating the ballet's 150th anniversary! Imagine my absolute thrill β there were magnificent costumes, even more incredible sets, and a new version of the Waltz of the Snowflakes. Let's just say it was positively enchanting!
After "The Nutcracker," it was off to New York, where I saw a sensational performance of "Giselle." They have a brand-new, more dynamic, and daring version that showcased the exquisite power and grace of contemporary ballet. Not to mention, the ballet company had a dazzling costume change midway through the performance that left the whole audience breathless!
But it wasn't all just big city glamour. I managed to sneak in a visit to my darling Derbyshire, the most charming countryside you can imagine, for a visit to a quaint little ballet school in the heart of the countryside. My goodness, they had the sweetest and most enthusiastic group of little ballerinas learning the most graceful and lovely routines. I practically had to bribe myself not to stay and learn with them. I was so smitten by their enthusiasm, that I even let them borrow some of my hand-me-down pink tutus β after all, everyone deserves to feel like a princess!
And you know me β my rucksack has a few trinkets from every time travel stop. From London, I brought a pair of the most exquisitely crafted ballet shoes β a true collector's treasure β that belonged to a famous dancer during "The Nutcracker" performance. Oh, and a little miniature Victorian doll wearing a perfect little tutu! And, for the New York stop, I scored some incredible contemporary dance designs, from an art book published on the very same date β absolutely priceless!
It was during my trip to New York, that I noticed a rather unique and special ballet trend - a group of ballet lovers performing flash mobs throughout the city, dancing right on the streets. Talk about exciting! They called their troupe "The Pink Tutu Street Ballerinas," and let me tell you, they were a fantastic bunch of performers. I practically burst with excitement when I realised, well, guess what their uniform is? Pink tutus of course!
As you know, darling, my ultimate mission is to get everyone, absolutely everyone, wearing a pink tutu. And the "Pink Tutu Street Ballerinas" were certainly on their way to fulfilling my dreams! Not only did they give free dance lessons to kids in parks and libraries, but they even made their own pink tutus out of all kinds of things - scarves, pillowcases, even bedsheets! Honestly, you name it and these talented individuals have managed to turn it into a charming little tutu.
So, I think we can all agree that the world of ballet is full of magic in 2033 β especially when weβre talking pink tutus! There is such passion and innovation bubbling up everywhere.
Until next month, my darling darlings, and always remember - a pink tutu is the answer to absolutely every problem in the world! Stay chic and stay pink!
