Pink Tutu Time Travels: January 2034 - A Ballet-Filled Odyssey Through Time! 🩰✨

Hey loves! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu-wearing time traveller, and welcome back to my monthly dose of all things ballet! 💖 This month marks a truly special date in history, and I just knew I had to hop on Magic Meg and journey through the time vortex to experience it firsthand!

For those of you just joining us, my name is Emma, I'm from Derbyshire, England, and my biggest passion in life is ballet - from the graceful pirouettes to the exquisite tutus! Oh, and did I mention that I happen to have a pink, sparkly Shire horse called Magic Meg who's not only a phenomenal steed, but also my loyal companion through time! (You can check out her instagram @MagicMegTutuTravels! 😉)

Now, back to this magical journey! Today's date is January 2034, and trust me, darling, the world of ballet was ablaze with exciting happenings on this very day! I'm so glad I brought my trusty leather rucksack to store all the goodies and stories I’ve collected, and of course, to capture the perfect vintage ballet finds for my upcoming collection!

My first stop? The Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Russia! It's where the legendary ballerina Maya Plisetskaya (my idol, darling!) was celebrating her 90th birthday with a spectacular performance of her signature role in Swan Lake. The theatre was brimming with the most fabulous and extravagant fashion – glittering jewels, flowing gowns, and a whole lot of pink! I practically had to drag Magic Meg away to the next stop!

Now, a hop across the world, all the way to New York City! Can you believe The Metropolitan Opera House had Rudolf Nureyev’s legendary performance of Giselle on their programme? Oh, the grace! The power! It truly was a breathtaking experience, and I snagged a rare copy of the original libretto as a keepsake! Speaking of Giselle, did you know that today also marked the 175th anniversary of the first performance of this romantic masterpiece? I was able to witness the celebratory performance in its original venue, the Salle Le Peletier in Paris, and let me tell you, darling, there is nothing quite like witnessing the origins of something so iconic!

Time travelling back to 18th century London, I had the privilege of attending a grand Masquerade Ball at Covent Garden. The fashion! Oh, my! Feathers, lace, silks - it was like stepping straight into a Jane Austen novel. And you know what, it’s not so dissimilar from our modern-day ballrooms - you can find so much inspiration for your next ballet ball here! Even today, you can see remnants of this historical venue through the modern Royal Opera House! It's still as enchanting today as it was centuries ago!

As you all know, my favourite part about time travelling is meeting all the wonderful people from different eras who share my love for ballet! I found myself in 1930's Hollywood, rubbing shoulders with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers as they discussed their newest balletic dance moves for their next big picture! Honestly, darling, it's quite an experience to chat about steps like "the pas de bourrée" with these iconic dancers, and you can bet your bottom dollar that their graceful movements inspired many modern ballet moves!

So much for today's post, dears! It's been another whirlwind adventure, and Magic Meg and I are both exhausted from all the exciting performances! But before you go, remember to always embrace the magic of ballet and follow your heart, even if it means time travelling in a pink tutu!

Catch you next month, dearies!

Love, Emma
