It feels like just yesterday I was a nervous young thing, pirouetting my way across the stage of the Derby Playhouse, dreaming of ballet, tutus, and all things pink. But now, thanks to the magical powers of Magic Meg, my darling pink sparkling shire horse with her golden hooves and magnificent white mane and tail, I can waltz through time, collecting stories and ballet gems from every era!
Now, you lovely lot know my aim, right? It’s simple, really: get everyone in a pink tutu! And how better to inspire that than by taking you all on these enchanting time-travelling adventures with me, from the glorious grandeur of the Bolshoi to the hidden gems of a ballet class tucked away in a charming little town? Every trip is a new discovery, a chance to witness the incredible evolution of ballet, the breathtaking costumes, and the captivating stories woven through the dance itself!

Stepping Into The Future
Wow, you know what they say about the future, right? It's incredibly glamorous, and definitely very sparkly! It's actually surprisingly similar to our present, with amazing technology - holographic stages, floating props - the whole shebang! We even encountered a few wonderful souls who were already planning ballet events for the future, and boy, were they spectacular!
This trip was absolutely packed with dazzling delights. We galloped through glittering landscapes, all high-tech and wonderfully colourful - it really gave me inspiration for my next tutu design! (Just a hint: iridescent fabrics, silver trim, and a touch of neon pink... Oh, the possibilities!)
A Peek at Ballet in the Future
The future is all about collaboration, my darlings, and ballet is no different! There's this incredible platform called Ballet-verse, imagine a kind of virtual ballet academy, but way more advanced. They’re offering classes from around the globe, right in your living room. And let me tell you, their choreographies are a mix of traditional ballets and exciting new fusion dances that blend all kinds of genres, even jazz and hip-hop!
The world of fashion is quite something else in the 2040s. You know my love for fashion, right? Everything is sustainable and designed to last. Their clothes are incredibly flexible and come in dazzling patterns – imagine tullis of swirling galaxy prints, sparkling gold embroidery and 3-D-printed tutus! The colours, oh darling, you simply must see them!
Memories and Magic from My Rucksack
You see, my little pink leather rucksack isn't just any rucksack, darlings. It's a portal, if you will! I tuck away special memories, interesting stories, even little souvenirs, all carefully chosen from the time periods we visit. And this journey has been an absolute treasure trove! I've snagged the most incredible, iridescent fabrics (oh, the sequins are heavenly) and some really stunning hologram sketches for my ballet shoes, all perfectly crafted using new bio-printing technology!
Imagine it: glowing shoes that create kaleidoscope patterns, like little galaxies on your feet! They'll make my next performance even more magical - I simply can’t wait to show you!
A World Of Dance In The Present
Back in the present, darling, it’s truly bursting with creativity! The London Royal Ballet just had an incredible new interpretation of Giselle. And wouldn’t you know, the opening scene featured this amazing mirrored backdrop - it really gave you the feeling of stepping into a fairy tale.
And the fashion? My dear, simply divine! From glittering black tutus, sleek lines to elegant and flowing tutus that captured the romanticism of Giselle, there’s an undeniable excitement in the world of ballet right now! You can feel it in the air. There's just so much wonderful energy out there!
And that, my loves, is why I find my job so thrilling. Seeing ballet evolve, changing and sparkling with fresh perspectives and innovation? There’s just nothing else like it.
