Pink Tutu Time Travels: 4599 - A Parisian Soirée in 1844

Hello, my darling ballet bunnies! Welcome back to www.pink-tutu.com, where every month I whisk you away on a dazzling time-travelling adventure with Magic Meg, my magnificent pink shire horse with those golden hooves!

Today’s date is the 3rd of March 2044 and this month, we're taking a whimsical trip to 1844, a Parisian soirée full of decadent charm. My pink tutu is positively buzzing with anticipation, as you can tell from this delightful photo (please check the gallery for a snap of me looking as pink as a fluffy peony).

Hold onto your pom-poms, darlings, because it’s time for a history lesson with a delightful side of dance!

We set off from Derbyshire, with Magic Meg trotting like a graceful ballerina (a little less plié, dear horse!) and found ourselves in a time when ballet was all about grace and grandeur. Picture this, my lovelies: a world where tulle and silk reigned supreme, and the stage was filled with breathtaking virtuosity.

It was all the rage to see a ballet, and tonight, we’re lucky enough to witness a performance by the esteemed Parisian Opera Ballet. Just imagine, tutus swirling, pointe shoes clicking, the orchestra striking up a majestic tune, and everyone in their finery, like an intricate tapestry of beauty. The star of the show was none other than the captivating Fanny Cerrito, whose breathtaking talent stole the hearts of audiences, like a swan taking flight on a lake of stardust.

But it wasn't all tutus and tights! There’s a fantastic museum here in Paris dedicated to the history of ballet - The Musée de la Danse! We found the most stunning costume pieces in the collection! There was a tutu with tiny ribbons, a bodice adorned with rhinestones and the most gorgeous silken slippers – just like something out of a fairytale.

As for ballet in general, my darlings, the scene is alight with creativity! From the grand classics to innovative choreography, it seems everyone was inspired by the artistic brilliance swirling around them!

While shopping, I discovered a delightful shop, Le Petit Ballerine, where I found an antique locket for my ballet collection (I’m a bit obsessed, you know?). It’s the perfect size to store little ballet-themed keepsakes. This time, I found a tiny scrap of a ballerina’s shoe worn by Cerrito, tucked safely inside the locket. You can’t imagine the delicate dance that those slippers have seen. It's like holding a little piece of history.

Speaking of the present, did you hear the news? The Ballet Fashion Show in Tokyo is due next month! Just think: we’re in 1844 with grand performances and we’re looking at futuristic fashion. Talk about the timeless elegance of dance!

We’ll be there, of course, in all our pink tutus, a splash of sunshine on a catwalk of modern magic. Do share your own thoughts on the intersection of ballet and fashion with me. This is what my little ballet world is all about - bringing ballet and all its beauty to everyone!

That’s all for this month, my dearest ballet bunnies. But before you go, don't forget to share the blog, comment below, and check out my other adventures at www.pink-tutu.com. Until next month, when we explore another magical era of dance, may your days be filled with twirls, leaps, and boundless grace!

Much love,

Emma, the pink tutu ballerina
