Hello my darlings! It's Emma here, and I am so excited to share this month's adventures in time travel! It's been a truly phenomenal journey, as always, and let me tell you, 2048 AD has been a truly delightful year for the ballet world!
As usual, I began my time-travelling escapade with a trip on the back of my dearest Magic Meg. You all know Meg - she’s a shimmering pink Shire horse with a sparkling golden mane and tail, a mane that can truly rival the pink feather boa I picked up last week in Covent Garden. We set off from my home in Derbyshire, the rolling hills a vibrant green against the cerulean sky, with a light dusting of magical pixie dust on our coats, ready to set off to the distant future of 2048 AD.
When I arrived, the year 2048 truly surprised me! The city was abuzz with technological wonders. You see, everyone is wearing amazing high-tech tutus! They’re made with self-cleaning materials and a holographic display that can project different colours and patterns! The city was bursting with colour, as everyone from children to the most senior citizens was twirling around in the most gorgeous tutus I've ever seen!
My heart practically danced in my chest when I realised that even in this futuristic world, there was such an appreciation for the classic elegance of ballet.
I ventured into one of the many glittering theatres where I watched a remarkable show. It featured a brand-new fusion ballet, "Neo-Victorian." You wouldn’t believe it, the entire story was told through ballet movements mixed with an amazing light show and intricate robotic choreography! There were drones dressed as ballerinas performing alongside humans and, at one point, the stage even dissolved into a hologram!
As an ardent admirer of all things pink, it warmed my heart to see so much of my favourite colour being incorporated into the sets and costumes. Every ballerina's tutu was embellished with exquisite, twinkling pink jewels. Some of them even had interactive, shimmering designs, that danced alongside the movements, giving a beautiful multi-sensory experience. The audience was captivated. I even caught myself giggling and gasping along with the others, my eyes shimmering with joy and surprise.
Afterwards, I enjoyed a delectable "virtual high tea" at the "Cyber Tea Room". They have this magnificent contraption called a "Tastes-Like-Real Food" machine which projects realistic, flavourful, virtual foods onto thin, holographic plates! I was delighted to find they even had the option of "pink cupcakes" which, when I activated them, were just as delightful to taste as a real, lovingly baked cupcake! I must say, this innovative food experience definitely added a sprinkle of wonder to my evening.
And then, my friends, the best part of this trip began. The city hosted an incredible event called "The Global Tutu-thon." The entire city transformed into a stage! Thousands of dancers, young and old, dressed in dazzling pink tutus (with their holographic tech glowing brightly) performed a spectacular, choreographed dance routine. They danced on the streets, sidewalks, and even the roofs, a harmonious swirl of pink amidst the futuristic cityscape. I took a few steps onto the pavement with them, swaying and dipping along with the energy of the dancers and music. I really was dancing the day away!
I had a grand old time during my journey through the colourful world of 2048! The people were kind, welcoming, and incredibly excited about all things pink. Their passion for the beauty and artistry of ballet was heartwarming and inspired me more than I can describe. I collected some stunning holographic tutu material to add to my rucksack for my own designs. The bright and shimmering fabric would be perfect for my next time travel ballet show. And the futuristic shoes I picked up from the Cyber-Shoe Store, oh my, those are certainly adding some pep to my step these days! The energy I gathered in the city is something I still feel all around me, so bright, uplifting and exhilarating, reminding me to never lose my spark, especially for all things pink and glamorous.
As I hopped onto Magic Meg’s back, and we began the journey back to my humble abode in Derbyshire, my thoughts swirled with new ideas. What magical dance can I choreograph, inspired by the colourful dances I've seen today? What pink-tinted, glamorous fashion trends will be popular for the next decade? What breathtaking venues can I perform at in future, both in my own time and in those exciting timelines I can explore? I feel that the journey of Ballet Time Travel is only beginning.
Join me next month as we take a dive into a brand new time period. What time will we land next? I will have to wait and see. You can see photos and video of my adventures on www.pink-tutu.com!
Until then, my dears, twirl on and shine bright!
Emma xx
