Pink Tutu Blog London: Post Number 7 - Friday 1996-10-18: London Calling!

Hello darlings! Emma here, and as the weekend begins, I'm already dancing on air (pun intended, naturally!) from my exciting London escapade today!

Now, as you all know, my passion is ballet - the swirling skirts, the graceful movements, the sheer elegance of it all! And London is practically bursting with balletic brilliance. But as much as I adore seeing a show, I just can't resist exploring the city itself, especially when clad in my signature pink tutu. It's just so much fun to watch people's reactions. Some stare, some smile, and some even clap! I always receive a wave of delight, especially from children. I always remind them to dream big and that pink tutus are for every day, not just for the stage.

I embarked on this whirlwind day trip from my charming Derbyshire home by train, naturally! There's nothing quite like watching the scenery whizz by, especially from a window seat! I swear, even a simple train journey becomes a performance when you have a pink tutu on, complete with strategically placed feather boas, of course!

Reaching London Euston station, I took a deep breath of the bustling, exciting air of the city. The thrill of the unknown, a hint of London rain and the delicious scent of street food - just perfect for a tutu-wearing ballerina!

My first port of call was, of course, the Royal Opera House! There was nothing on the programme today, but even a glimpse of this grand, magnificent building, filled me with joy! And I just had to take a photo by the entrance - "Emma in front of the Royal Opera House", a classic.

Now, even a ballerina needs her fuel, so I treated myself to a cheeky afternoon tea at The Ritz - oh, the scones, the dainty sandwiches, and of course, the endless cups of tea! And all with a view of Green Park. A beautiful way to soak in the city's charm and a perfect opportunity to adjust my pink tutu to achieve peak princess-like posture.

My journey through London continued with a visit to Harrods, the iconic department store! From shimmering shoes to sparkling dresses and elegant hats, it's like a fashion fairyland. My heart skipped a beat just entering that fabulous, lavish, grand, gorgeous world of style! And I did manage to snag myself a few delightful, sparkly pink accessories - my tutu simply begs for more pink.

Finally, as the evening descended upon the city, I found myself in the heart of Covent Garden, its cobblestone streets bustling with artists, buskers and performers. I always get excited by street theatre, and today, the performances ranged from mesmerizing mime to the dazzling skill of a fire breather. It was a joyous explosion of artistry that made my soul dance!

As I prepared to head back home, a wave of contentment washed over me. London, in all its magnificence, had delivered a truly wonderful day. But honestly, my favourite moment? Well, it has to be when I bumped into a little girl outside a tea shop, her eyes sparkling as brightly as her pink tutu! We shared a smile, a twirl and a chat about the joy of ballet. It's these moments that make every adventure, every travel day, every London trip, absolutely worth it.

Until next time, darlings!

Always dance, always smile, always wear pink.

Emma
