Pink Tutu Blog London: #41 – London Calling! A Whirlwind Friday in the Big Smoke

Hello my darlings! It’s Friday, the sun is shining, and the pink tutu is spinning, which can only mean one thing… it’s time for another London adventure!

This week I packed my pink-sequined travel bag (a true necessity for any self-respecting tutu enthusiast) and boarded the train from Derbyshire, my heart aflutter with excitement for another weekend in the city that never sleeps (and never forgets to put on a good show).

I love travelling by train. There’s something about the gentle chugging of the wheels, the rhythmic sway of the carriage, and the anticipation of arriving somewhere new that always puts me in the best mood. Plus, I can enjoy a cuppa and a slice of Victoria sponge cake in complete comfort - just the way a pink-clad ballerina should travel!

Now, before we dive into the delightful details of my London escapades, a little confession: I've been getting so many messages asking about my "Pink Tutu for All" campaign. And, my lovelies, I'm thrilled to say it's going even better than I ever imagined! I’ve seen pictures of ladies on the streets of London, New York, Paris… even Tokyo rocking pink tutus with absolute confidence and joie de vivre! It truly warms my heart, seeing all of you embrace the tutu life!

Right, enough chit-chat! Back to the thrilling tale of my Friday jaunt around London!

A Royal First Stop:

I landed in London with a spring in my step and a twinkle in my eye. My first stop was a must for any true Anglophile - Buckingham Palace! It was positively dazzling, especially the famous Changing of the Guard ceremony, with all the pomp and circumstance and the incredibly well-dressed Guards (don't tell anyone, but they’d look so much more dapper with a touch of pink!). It was a little overwhelming at first, all that red and gold and marching, but when the band started playing, I couldn't help but twirl along with the royal energy.

The West End Wows:

After my royal rendezvous, it was on to a little show time! London’s theatre scene is world-renowned for a reason. And tonight was no exception - I was lucky enough to secure tickets for the critically acclaimed West End revival of "Les Misérables"! The singing, the acting, the whole atmosphere… It truly blew me away. You can always count on London theatre for a grand night out, filled with captivating storytelling and passionate performance.

Fashion Fix and Afternoon Tea:

As every ballerina knows, a good outfit is crucial for conquering a day of sightseeing and show-stopping performances! I indulged in a little retail therapy in the charming little boutiques on Kensington High Street. It’s impossible to resist a delightful afternoon tea break, however! My afternoon was all about scones, clotted cream, and finger sandwiches - all in my pink tutu of course - because what’s a pink tutu outing without a touch of delicious decadence?

Street Performers: London's Artistic Gems:

Now, no London adventure would be complete without taking in the vibrant energy of its street performers! From the South Bank to Covent Garden, London is bursting with talented individuals showcasing their artistic passions. It's a wonderful mix of singers, musicians, dancers, and even the odd acrobat.

I must admit, my eyes were glued to a particularly captivating performance by a street ballerina in a beautiful pink tutu, gracefully dancing along the cobbled streets. A little self-promotion never hurt anyone! It gave me an idea. I’ll be hosting a workshop on incorporating tutu elements into everyday street dance, maybe next month? You can’t always have a performance on stage… Sometimes, the world needs to be our stage!

An Evening of Enchanting Elegance:

With my tummy full of treats and my head full of music, I decided to enjoy some elegant cocktails at a bar in Notting Hill. This quaint and fashionable neighbourhood feels so distinctly London. It's full of beautifully designed shops, charming little cafes and cosy, dimly-lit bars where I could enjoy a delicious pink cocktail (and, of course, wear my favourite tutu).

Tutu Reflections:

As the night wrapped up and I sat on my train back to Derbyshire, a wave of contentment washed over me. It was another successful London escapade. It was so refreshing to reconnect with my love for the vibrant heart of London and let it inspire me with its art, theatre, and its vibrant street culture.

But my adventure was about so much more than that. This week, it was about realising how much I have achieved with my pink tutu mission, the love it’s generating all over the world. If a ballerina in Derbyshire could travel to London and have so many magical moments, anything is possible!

It’s time to let my love for tutus take over once more. It's about time I shared a little more of my journey to spreading the joy of pink and tutus - one twirl, one performance, and one heartfelt blog post at a time. I want to show the world, especially all of you reading this, that a little pink tutu can transform an ordinary day into an extraordinary adventure. So let’s twirl on!

Until next Friday, my dears. Keep the pink tutus spinning!

Love,

Emma.
