Hello my darlings! It's Emma here, ready to take you on another fabulous trip to London! Today is Friday, the 18th of July, 1997, and oh my, the city is buzzing with excitement. It feels like there's something going on at every corner!
I know some of you might be thinking, "Emma, another trip to London?" But I can't help it, I absolutely adore this city! The vibrant energy, the fashion, the culture, it's all so intoxicating! Plus, I'm absolutely in my element exploring the city streets in my pink tutu! This week I decided to travel by train from Derbyshire to London. Honestly, there's just something about the rhythmic clickety-clack of the wheels on the tracks, and the glimpses of passing countryside. I took a comfy window seat and just let the world roll by. But it wasn't all about the scenic views, darling. I, of course, dressed for the occasion! I chose my new "Prima Ballerina" tutu with delicate lace details in the most gorgeous shade of pink. It twirled with me all the way to King's Cross station. A splash of colour is what the world needs, wouldn't you agree?
I arrived in London at midday, all ready for a full day of pink-tinted adventures. Now, as you all know, a little treat always makes me feel a little more special. So, my first stop was Harrods, for some luxurious pampering and some much needed retail therapy. After a bit of browsing, I found myself at the Lancôme counter - can you believe it? My favorite shade of blush is right there! I know what you're thinking: a pink tutu and a pink blush - what else is new? But darling, it's all about embracing your inner diva!
But hold your horses, I didn't forget the reason why I'm here! After my "pink pick-me-up," it was off to see a performance at the Royal Opera House! Oh, how I love the grandeur of this beautiful theatre, from the plush velvet seating to the elegant chandeliers. And tonight's show? La Traviata - nothing but sheer theatrical magic! The music, the costumes, the dance - it's pure enchantment! Seeing La Traviata again reminded me of why I dedicate my life to the dance - the magic it creates is something that transcends any ordinary words.
Speaking of magical performances, let's not forget about the enchanting world of the West End! After my ballet-fuelled evening, I indulged in a true London tradition: dinner and a show! Today's pick? The newly opened musical "Mamma Mia!" What can I say, a show full of catchy tunes and uplifting moments that just gets you singing along. I love a good ABBA moment, you see? My favourite tune, however, was "Dancing Queen!"
And that's not all, dear friends! After the show, I popped over to Covent Garden, a place where you can really feel the vibrancy of London. There were street performers, quirky little shops, and even a pop-up bar with delicious strawberry mojitos! It truly is the most exciting spot!
Now, before we wrap up this London adventure, let me share some of the highlights of this city on this beautiful Friday. The day I was in London saw a mix of weather, from sunny rays to unexpected drizzle, perfect for putting up my bright pink brolly. And as much as I love London's hustle and bustle, I always love visiting some of its green spaces. Hyde Park with its lush lawns and meandering paths was my oasis. And, as a dancer, the London Eye is a sight that is always inspiring! It feels like the perfect place to see London from above and maybe, just maybe, feel like you're on stage, the city at your feet.
That, my loves, concludes my trip to London. I had a fantastic time soaking up the energy of the city. From dazzling theatrical shows to beautiful green spaces, London always delivers, even on a rainy day.
