Hello, my darlings! It’s Emma here, back with another instalment of Pink Tutu Blog London, and guess what? It’s Friday! That means it’s time for a dose of sartorial sparkle, exciting outings, and all the pretty things London has to offer.
This week, I packed my suitcase with an extra special pink tutu, the one with the shimmering, silver butterflies sewn into the tulle. I knew it was just the right touch of whimsical magic for a day exploring the Big Smoke. After all, what’s better than gliding through London streets in a swirling pink tutu? Honestly, darling, nothing!
Now, I’m a Derbyshire girl at heart, and you all know I absolutely adore travelling by train. It’s such a delightful way to arrive, watching the world whizz by as you get swept away by anticipation. The plush, burgundy seats are always a welcome sight, and the rhythmic clackety-clack of the wheels against the tracks, oh, it just gets my creative juices flowing!
But enough about the journey, it’s time for the real excitement, darling! Today was jam-packed with tutu-worthy delights:
Ballet, Bonnets and Beautiful Brows:
First up, a most delightful morning! I knew that on this Friday the 22nd of August, the Sadler’s Wells theatre was showcasing the world-famous Royal Ballet in a performance of ‘Swan Lake’. Now, Swan Lake is an absolute classic, darling, so naturally, I simply had to see it. There is just something magical about a performance like this. It fills your heart with such grace, such beauty, such …well, tutus!
As always, I looked the part, my silver butterfly tutu swaying in sync with the ballerinas on stage, with a delicate pink fascinator perched atop my perfectly coiffed blonde curls. I felt like a fairytale princess ready to embrace the artistry. I was mesmerized by the dancers' effortless elegance, and oh, the costumes! So exquisite and breathtaking. You could almost feel the emotion through their graceful movements. It was quite the experience! And honestly, my dear, there’s nothing quite as glamorous as a post-performance cappuccino in a bustling Covent Garden café while dissecting every last detail of the ballet with my dear friend, Jessica.
Speaking of glam, did I tell you I finally decided to treat myself to that new brow tint I'd been eyeing? Well, I did, and let me tell you, it’s simply divine! My brows look beautifully defined, giving a subtle, sparkling lift to my whole face.
A Day in the Life of a Pink Tutu Blogger:
Later, I made a bee-line to Selfridges, my heart pounding with anticipation. After all, London's flagship department store is a haven for fashionistas, where one can find every exquisite item of clothing your heart desires! And, oh darling, the sales assistants were just delightful, they treated me like a royal visiting their kingdom!
You know me, my dear, I love nothing more than to shop till I drop, especially for vintage pieces with a bit of flair. And today, I scored! I found the most glorious vintage pink tweed jacket, perfectly fitted, a shade of pink so flattering, and finished off with a beautiful black trim. Honestly, I already see myself pairing it with my black and pink tulle skirt for a very dramatic, very stylish evening outing.
Shopping done, it was time to hit the streets. And when in London, darling, you must take a stroll down Oxford Street! Such an iconic spot, full of life and energy. I picked up a pink bubble tea (delicious, of course!), admired the bustling crowds, and even caught a glimpse of the street performers busking with such talent. It was an experience, my dear!
Finally, as evening settled over the city, it was time for one last treat - the theater!
You might be surprised to hear this, darling, but my love for ballet isn't just confined to traditional settings. This evening, we were treated to an unexpected theatrical delight at a little gem hidden in a tiny alleyway called "The Battersea Barge". It’s a small, charming floating theatre with a history that dates back decades.
The performance was "The Nutcracker" - but not just any Nutcracker, darling! This was a quirky, modern retelling with an element of satire that had us giggling through the whole show.
The cast was phenomenal. A particularly hilarious character was the over-the-top, totally-not-subtle villain - a man wearing a black tutu (gasp!). But even he, darling, couldn’t steal the spotlight from the truly stunning ballerinas who glided across the stage with such effortless grace. I even noticed a few clever little references to fashion – there were some fabulous tutu costumes worn by the toy soldiers!
Honestly, this was a delightful end to a truly spectacular day, a beautiful example of how the London theater scene always surprises and delights!
Pinks & Positivity
Darling, I’ve had an absolutely fantastic Friday here in London. But honestly, that's not all I want to share! There's something else important about this blog that I think is truly important for all of us. You see, life can get pretty tough sometimes, and it’s in these moments, my dear, that we need to remember the joy in simple things. A delicious afternoon tea, the rhythm of the train wheels on the track, the shared laughter at a performance, or simply a new pair of shoes!
These little moments add up to create a bigger picture. I truly believe in celebrating the things that make us smile, like beautiful tutus, bold pinks, and the chance to embrace the magical whimsy that life throws at us.
This week, I want you to think about a small act of kindness you can do to brighten someone’s day, perhaps wear a splash of pink yourself, go out and see a show, or simply embrace that one little thing that makes your heart sing. You deserve it, my dear, and remember, we all need a bit more pink in our lives!
Stay fabulous, darling! And keep checking in with me next Friday for another fun-filled day in Pink Tutu Blog London!
Yours truly,
Emma
