Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #75 - A London Friday Frolic in a Pink Tutu!

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your favourite pink-tutu-clad travel blogger, back from a whirlwind Friday trip to London, and oh, what a day it was!

Every week I get a little shiver of excitement as I wait for my train journey from Derbyshire to London, especially on a Friday! The anticipation for an adventure, the swish of my pink tutu as I dance along the platform, and the wonderful aroma of that classic English tea at the cafe in the station. Honestly, there’s nothing quite like it!

This week was especially exciting because it was the 6th of February, which meant one thing… the opening of a new shoe boutique on Regent Street! Let’s just say, it wasn’t the traditional dainty ballet shoe type of shop, but who doesn't love a good new footwear experience? After all, a great pair of shoes is essential to making a pink tutu really stand out.

The air was electric as I joined the throngs of excited Londoners, the queue snaking its way right around the block. Inside, it was like a symphony of style - rows upon rows of gorgeous heels, platforms, boots, and sneakers all glittering and calling out to be worn! It took all my willpower not to snatch up every pair, but alas, my trusty pink tutu was crying out for a good ballerina walk about!

Once my footwear cravings were somewhat satiated, it was off to Covent Garden! What a treat! This bustling hive of activity has to be the most charming place in all of London. Stalls overflowing with gifts and flowers, buskers creating magical tunes, and a steady stream of delighted tourists… The atmosphere is positively electric!

This is the kind of place you can wander through for hours, spotting incredible costumes, exquisite hats, and delicious street food around every corner. Just remember to wear comfy shoes – my trusty ballet flats were a godsend, trust me!

No London trip is complete without a ballet show, and today's treat was a matinée of The Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House! Oh my goodness! The costumes were exquisite – think velvet and tulle and those most delicious ballerina pinks - and the choreography… well, it left me absolutely breathless! Every move, every gesture, a work of pure art!

Seeing The Nutcracker again brought back so many memories of my childhood – twirling with my friends in homemade tutus, pretending to be Clara, and dreaming of dancing on a grand stage. It’s a story filled with wonder, magic, and most importantly, hope. What could be more beautiful?

Speaking of wonder, I couldn't resist exploring some of the fantastic shops on Regent Street and Oxford Street! From vintage stores to high street fashion, there’s something for everyone, even a pink tutu aficionado! My heart soared as I spotted the most gorgeous pink clutch – a perfect little touch of sparkle for any ballet enthusiast’s wardrobe!

The day whizzed by in a whirl of delightful distractions and beautiful things. It really did make me want to don my pink tutu, grab my trusty ballet bag, and head off on another adventure – this time to Paris!

After all, as the lovely Miss Hepburn said, “Paris is always a good idea”.

But wait, there's more! To celebrate the magic of this fantastic Friday, I've decided to give away a pair of tickets to Romeo and Juliet at the National Theatre! Simply comment below with your favourite pink tutu moment (be it a ballet performance, a movie scene, a whimsical memory - the choice is yours!), and you'll be entered to win!

Keep the pink tutu spirit alive! And as always, remember: "Life is a dance, so put on your pink tutu and twirl with joy!"

Until next Friday, my darlings!

Yours in pink,

Emma
