Hello my lovely readers! It's Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina, reporting live from the heart of London! After a thrilling train journey from my cosy Derbyshire cottage, I’ve finally arrived in the Big Smoke, ready to soak up all the glamour and excitement this fabulous city has to offer.
Today, the Pink Tutu Blog is going full-on London exploration mode! I’ve got a packed itinerary that’s brimming with dance, fashion, and a healthy dose of pink. So, grab your favourite pink teacup, put on your most glamorous outfit (pink tutu optional, but highly encouraged!), and let’s go!
The Journey Begins
The train journey was a delight, just like stepping into a scene from a vintage film. The plush velvet seats and the rhythmic clattering of the wheels had me mesmerized. And, of course, my pink tutu was the perfect choice for a chic travelling ensemble!
To make the journey even more magical, I packed my ballet shoes, so I could squeeze in a little impromptu pirouette or two. The other passengers might have given me a curious glance or two, but let’s face it, I was making that train ride oh-so-much more glamorous.
A London Landmark: The Royal Opera House
My first stop was the iconic Royal Opera House! As a devoted ballerina, I simply couldn’t miss this legendary theatre. It’s truly awe-inspiring. From the majestic marble entrance to the grand auditorium, the grandeur was breathtaking. Just imagining all the incredible performances that have taken place here left me speechless.
Now, a little secret for my fellow dance lovers. You can take a backstage tour, and trust me, it's a total must-do! You'll get a peek into the hidden world of the dancers, their costumes, and all the behind-the-scenes magic that makes the show come alive. It was like walking through a backstage wonderland!
Ballet Class at the Royal Opera House
No trip to the Royal Opera House would be complete without a ballet class, would it? The studio had high ceilings and the biggest mirrors I’ve ever seen. Just standing in the space made me feel like a true ballerina.
The class itself was amazing. We were learning a section from Swan Lake, one of my all-time favourite ballets. The teacher was fantastic, and the other students were lovely. They all seemed genuinely excited about their passion for ballet, just like me.
Pink Tutu Shopping Spree on Oxford Street
After my ballet class, I was in dire need of a bit of retail therapy. And what better place to indulge in some London fashion than Oxford Street? It was a sensory overload of glittering shop windows, buzzing crowds, and the aroma of freshly baked treats. It was like a scene straight from a London fairy tale!
As a seasoned shopper, I knew just where to go for the perfect pink tutu. I discovered a small, hidden shop called "The Tutu Boutique", a haven for all things frilly and fabulous. The shop was packed with an array of vibrant, tutus, in every shade imaginable, but, of course, I went straight for the pink ones!
After hours of trying on various styles, I emerged from the shop with a gorgeous, pink feather-trimmed tutu, perfect for a night at the theatre. The perfect way to round off a delightful day of London exploration.
Catching a Show in the West End
For the grand finale of my day, I had a date with the West End theatre. Today's choice: Chicago, the musical masterpiece that’s been captivating audiences for years. The energy was electrifying. The songs were phenomenal, and the performers had incredible stage presence.
But it was the costumes that truly caught my eye, particularly Velma Kelly’s fiery red outfit - a real statement! The bold colour and sleek design made me dream of creating a tutu version. Imagine a pink-sequined tutu with red feather detailing! The possibilities are endless!
Back to the Hotel for a Pink-Themed Soirée
I can't tell you how much I loved being back in my hotel room. London is a truly captivating city, and all the excitement made me exhausted, but happy! There was a certain serenity to my hotel room, the fluffy white sheets and the perfect fluffy towels. Pure luxury!
Since I was back in my pink tutu, I decided to indulge in a little pink-themed soirée for myself! The room was already well-equipped with the necessary pink essentials – a fluffy pink bathrobe, the pinkest strawberry milkshake, and, of course, my beloved pink tutu!
As I settle into my evening, I can’t help but reflect on this extraordinary day. From the breathtaking ballet class at the Royal Opera House, to the vibrant shops of Oxford Street, to the electrifying performance in the West End, it’s been a London adventure to remember!

It seems December 10th, 1999 was a special day in London, full of excitement and historical significance!
- The Spice Girls were performing at the Wembley Arena. Imagine! That’s got to be worth celebrating with a good dance in your pink tutu, don’t you think?
- The “Millennium Dome” (now known as The O2 Arena), opened its doors to the public. It’s a stunning feat of architecture, with enough space to fit the Houses of Parliament inside. They’ve had many wonderful shows and events there. Maybe I’ll be able to check it out next week.
- The first Harry Potter book, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone", had been released in the UK only a year before, and it was causing a sensation! Just a bit of trivia that got me dreaming of adventures in a magical world…
