Pink Tutu Blog London #202: London Calling! A Friday of Frocks, Frou-frou and Fantastic Performances!

Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad travel blogger, back with another exciting installment from the bustling metropolis that is London town! Today marks another triumphant journey for this Derbyshire girl – a train ride to the big smoke, fueled by the delicious scent of anticipation and the rhythmic tapping of my sparkly pink ballet shoes against the train seat (oh, the joys of train travel!)

This Friday is all about exploring the best that London has to offer, with a dash of fabulous frocks, a sprinkle of frou-frou and a generous dollop of fabulous performance.

First, let me confess something, my dear readers. I am truly and utterly obsessed with ballet! It's not just a hobby for me, it’s an elixir, a source of pure joy. This passion has fuelled my travels – a recent stint performing in a charming production of “Swan Lake” in Edinburgh, funded my way to this grand London adventure!

As I sat in my comfy carriage, the familiar sway of the train lulling me into a state of dreamy bliss, my mind wandered through the delightful agenda I’d meticulously planned for this day of London fun.

A London Symphony of Colour & Chic

Stepping off the train at Euston, the aroma of blooming lavender from a nearby flower stall wafted through the air, a perfect floral greeting to London. My pink tutu swished against my legs, catching the admiring gazes of passing commuters (believe me, a pink tutu makes you stand out even in the urban jungle!).

After grabbing a delicious cup of tea from a quaint tea room (oh, how I do love a spot of proper British tea!), I set off to conquer London’s fashion district. And let’s be honest, darlings, shopping for fab outfits is the perfect way to embrace the thrill of being in a city like London!

I started my fashion quest in Covent Garden, where I stumbled upon a treasure trove of vintage clothing, including the most glorious sequined waistcoat, perfectly suited to my upcoming “Peter Pan” performance! I absolutely love rummaging through vintage shops; it's like stepping into a time capsule of style!

Next, a stop at Liberty, a true wonderland of exquisite textiles and stylish clothes, filled me with such sartorial inspiration! The floral print dress I snagged there is bound to be my new favourite. But hey, I’m a pink tutu girl – so you know there was also a healthy dose of pink on my shopping spree.

Speaking of pink, the glorious glow of the setting sun cast a beautiful rosy hue over the Thames as I strolled across Waterloo Bridge, admiring the vibrant colours reflected on the water. I felt so alive, so grateful to be in this exciting city, surrounded by history, beauty, and of course, fabulous outfits!

A Dance with History & Delight

From fashion, to ballet – my next stop was a performance that stole my heart! It was a delightful production of “Cinderella,” brought to life at the glorious Sadler’s Wells theatre.

Now, you might think I was just there for the graceful ballerinas and the exquisitely executed moves, but darling, the entire experience was utterly magical! The costumes were beyond exquisite, and the storyline was captivating. Oh, the thrill of watching these talented artists tell a story through dance!

As the curtain fell on this enchanted night, my mind was flooded with memories of the exquisite costumes, the breathtaking leaps, and the captivating storyline.

I found myself lingering in the lobby for a moment, lost in the enchantment of it all. Seeing the happy faces of the children exiting the theatre – eyes bright, cheeks rosy – brought back so many happy childhood memories of magical ballets, of tutus and fairy godmothers.

And for me, there’s simply nothing quite like sharing this love of ballet with those who hold its wonder so close to their hearts.

Back to my own world – A night of reflection

My evening concluded in my quaint Bloomsbury hotel room, the gentle clatter of a passing London bus my soothing lullaby.

Before settling down for the night, I pulled out my ballet journal. As I always do after a magical evening at the theatre, I captured every detail - the shimmering costumes, the expressive movement, the story I absorbed in each pirouette.

It's my way of keeping my dreams of ballet alive, to ensure I never lose sight of the beauty I encounter in the dance world.

And of course, I wrote about today's adventures for you lovely lot. After all, sharing my London joy is a joy in itself!

This weekend, the world of ballet and fashion will collide. I'm excited to attend a charity gala on Saturday. It's always such a pleasure to be part of something that celebrates both the artistry of dance and the wonderful world of fashion. (More about this glamorous event in next week's post, darling!)

Until next Friday,

Remember to stay sparkly, embrace the pink, and let your love for dance take you anywhere!

Love, Emma
