Pink Tutu Blog London - Post 210: A Friday Fling with London's Delights! 🩰

Hello lovelies!

It's Friday, the day I live for, and as the train whisks me through the English countryside, I can already feel the buzz of London pulsing in my veins! I'm here, darlings, for a day of dancing through the streets and savouring the city's magic.

Now, some of you might think a little pink tutu is a bit much for a London adventure, but frankly, I find it makes everything more fun! Plus, a tutu in a bustling city? It's guaranteed to turn heads - in a good way, of course. And trust me, there's no better way to feel like a princess than twirling your way through the capital's vibrant streets!

My travels are fuelled by the joy of ballet performances - from graceful swan lakes to dramatic stories of forbidden love, the magic of the stage keeps my heart and my tutu twirling! This week's performance was "La Bayadère" - absolutely divine! Those costumes were just stunning, and I must admit I did a bit of a 'happy dance' when the finale ended, leaving my heart and soul brimming with the sheer joy of movement and art.

I took the train from my little haven in Derbyshire - nothing quite beats a window seat on a train journey, watching the world whizz past. There's something so wonderfully romantic about the rhythmic clickety-clack of the rails, don't you think?

But back to London - let's talk about this fantastic Friday, shall we?

A Ballet Blitz Through London!

The train deposited me right at the heart of London, and I knew immediately I was going to need some retail therapy to start my day off on the right foot (or rather, pointe shoe). Luckily, Oxford Street was just a hop, skip, and twirl away, so I made a beeline for its glittering shops.

Now, I'm not just a lover of pink tutus; I'm a fashionista through and through! I was in the mood for some fun accessories - think bright statement earrings, a shimmery scarf to complete any outfit, and, of course, a gorgeous new handbag that will definitely add some "oomph" to my outfits.

A couple of hours and some happy purchases later, I found myself sipping a delightful tea in a charming café with floral-print wallpaper and a vintage gramophone playing delightful jazz. Feeling refreshed, I decided to get my steps in with a wander through Hyde Park, taking in the crisp autumn air and the golden hues of the leaves.

My next stop was the London Ballet School, which was holding a special open day. I always find a ballet school such a happy, inspiring space. All the aspiring dancers with their hopeful smiles, and the incredible energy radiating from their practice sessions just fills you with a sense of magic and possibility!

I was even lucky enough to snag a ticket for a short ballet class – a fabulous chance to flex my ballet muscles and get lost in the blissful movements. Afterwards, I felt exhilarated, refreshed, and completely ready for the highlight of my day - the evening's performance.

A Spectacular Evening of Ballet!

Oh my goodness! Today's ballet performance at the Royal Opera House was something else! The staging was spectacular - imagine a cascading waterfall backdrop with a moonlit stage, oh it was simply stunning! The dancing, of course, was nothing short of divine! I just love how ballerinas can move with such fluidity and grace, and tonight's performance had me mesmerised from start to finish. I even got a glimpse of some stunning costumes after the performance - think rich velvet, intricate beading, and shimmering silk - it's all in the details, darling!

I have to admit, London knows how to celebrate beauty and artistry in a way that just makes me want to twirl, twirl, twirl!

Shopping Spree After the Show!

After the performance, I knew I deserved a bit of pampering! A quick change out of my dancing shoes and into something a little more casual, and I was off to Covent Garden for a dose of fashion magic!

As I weaved my way through the buzzing markets, I couldn’t resist picking up a delightful hand-painted silk scarf - just the thing to complete my wardrobe for my upcoming weekend adventures. It wouldn't be a trip to London without some iconic souvenirs, right?

Covent Garden was positively bursting with character. It's a haven for performers, from buskers to street dancers. As I walked by a captivating street musician, I found myself twirling a little myself. It's incredible how music can make you want to dance! I just love the way London embraces the spirit of creativity in every nook and cranny!

By the time evening descended, I was buzzing with the city’s energy. There was nothing left to do but grab some yummy Italian fare - the best pizza with all the fixings and a generous glass of Pinot Grigio - the perfect way to end a day packed with adventure, style, and artistry.

So, as I settle into the comfy chair on the train back to my cosy little home in Derbyshire, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of happiness. I am blessed to be able to experience this magical life! Every Friday in London brings a new dose of adventure, a twirl in the city lights, and an excuse to put on my pink tutu and let the magic happen.

Until next Friday, my loves,

Keep twirling, keep shining, keep embracing life's beauty!

Fashion Spotlight: What to Wear for a London Friday!

Looking for some style inspiration for your next London adventure?

For me, a trip to London calls for a playful, elegant blend of feminine flair and chic practicality!

  • For a day of exploring: I'm a firm believer in keeping things comfy for a full day on the go. I always opt for a lovely floaty skirt, with a comfy pair of ballet flats for maximum twirling power. A cosy, long-sleeved blouse in a pretty floral pattern is just the right amount of whimsy to match the energy of the city.

  • Evening glamour: If you're catching a show, London’s theatres deserve a little extra magic. My favourite go-to: a timeless, flowy cocktail dress in a gorgeous colour - maybe a blush pink or a vibrant emerald green? I love to pair this with some sparkling heels and a clutch with some serious bling! And of course, a sprinkle of glittery eye shadow completes the look perfectly.

Top Tip: Don’t be afraid to experiment with accessories. London is the perfect place to play with fun pieces! Think colourful statement jewellery, chic hats, or even a pretty scarf to add a touch of flair.
