#PinkTutuBlogLondon - Post #222 - A Tutu-ful Day in London! 🩰💖
Hello, darlings! It’s Emma here, your pink tutu-wearing guide to all things fabulous. It’s Friday again, and that means it's time for another #PinkTutuBlogLondon! This week, I took the train down from Derbyshire to London, for a whirlwind day of tutu-tastic adventures! 💖
London, you are just so utterly captivating! It's a city where anything goes. I was determined to squeeze every last bit of magic out of this trip. From a ballet performance in the evening to finding the perfect new pink tutu in a boutique, I'm here to share all the highlights with you. Buckle up, my lovely readers, this one's a doozy!
Train Travels and Pink-tastic Tunes
As usual, I woke up feeling excited as a sugar plum! The journey on the train down to London was always such a delightful treat. I got a window seat and settled in with my favourite ballet book and my iPod filled with beautiful, uplifting music. It’s my way of getting in the mood for all the London magic that awaited me!
I can’t resist a good old-fashioned song-along in my seat. Who cares if people look! It’s just so much fun, you guys! I can already feel the London energy pumping through my veins!
A City Built for Ballerinas
Upon arrival, London embraced me like an old friend. The streets bustled with energy. I felt a familiar sense of joy just walking the pavements. This city has it all – bustling markets, amazing fashion, iconic landmarks, and the most beautiful buildings, all of which would make fantastic ballet sets! I even spotted a busker playing a tune on his accordion as I exited the station - oh, the charm!
Ballet Bliss at the Royal Opera House
The highlight of my trip had to be the evening performance at the Royal Opera House. This legendary theatre is such a magical place! Seeing a live performance is the absolute best. I simply can't imagine life without a regular dose of the theatre. The dancing was captivating. Oh, to be twirling and leaping on stage just like them. It is an art form that is truly life-affirming.
You wouldn’t believe it, but this show inspired me so much that I couldn't resist picking up a few little treats at the Royal Opera House gift shop. I’m particularly pleased with the gorgeous ballerina figurines!
London's Ballet Scene: It's a Thing
But London’s not just about fancy ballet houses. This city has a rich ballet culture right down to street level! Walking down Oxford Street, I saw several ballet-related boutiques. There's something wonderful about seeing so many people expressing themselves through ballet! It’s like everyone's dancing to the same joyful tune, you know? 🩰
My Tutu Obsession: The Hunt Continues
Of course, no trip to London would be complete without a proper hunt for a new pink tutu! As much as I love my classic ones, sometimes, a girl just needs a little more tulle in her life! I know my pink tutu is what draws everyone to me and inspires others to try one out, because we all need to be reminded to just dance with life!
My quest for the perfect tutu led me to the bustling and charming area of Covent Garden. Here, I discovered a quaint little shop called "Tutu and Things." Just walking through the door made me want to twirl and dance. Inside, it was pure heaven! From vibrant pink tutus to soft pastel tones and classic white, this little boutique had a tutu for every taste! I found a divine creation made from shimmering fabric, perfect for evening events. Oh, my sweet tutus, this is how we do it in London!
Shopping Till We Drop! A Love Affair With London Fashion
Who can resist a good shop? It’s an absolute must when in London! I absolutely adore London's amazing mix of fashion and vintage shops. They're truly a sartorial wonderland. After a lovely afternoon lunch at a cafe by the Thames River, I had the pleasure of browsing the beautiful department stores.
Oh, the exquisite garments! The rich fabrics! My eyes lit up with excitement as I perused the racks of clothing, from silk scarves to fluffy faux fur coats and perfectly fitted dresses. There is such a variety! London's fashion scene is definitely something special, offering something for everyone.
And my, how London just has the most wonderful footwear selection! This day was meant to be the day I picked up a brand new pair of sparkly flats – and you won't believe the absolute stunners I found. 👠 Now I just need an excuse to wear them everywhere!
Dining on Delight
No adventure in London would be complete without a culinary treat. I was simply delighted to find the perfect little tea room in the heart of the city. The scones were delectable. With clotted cream and homemade strawberry jam, my tea break was an absolute dream. It's simply one of those moments in life you must savour!
Friday Feels and #PinkTutuBlogLondon Adventures
Every time I visit London, I'm reminded of how beautiful and dynamic this city is. As I boarded the train to return home, I felt a real sense of contentment. It’s those wonderful memories I will be reminiscing on as I write next week's blog. But for now, I’m going to put my new ballerina figurines on display.
And to all my fellow tutulovers, don’t forget to keep spreading that joy! Be fabulous. Be bold. Be you. Wear a tutu, and let’s make the world a bit more twirly. 💖
Until next Friday! Emma x

#PinkTutuLondonLife - Behind the Scenes
Well, you saw my Friday, but did you see me preparing for my day? The real heart and soul of #PinkTutuBlogLondon comes from all the time I put in between the public faces. Because this blog is just a little more than me being cute and taking pictures. It’s the foundation that enables me to keep up with my life. The foundation you’re seeing here in this behind-the-scenes peak!
You can see why it takes the effort of many other performances before each London trip!
London Bound! – Week Before
You see the excitement at the train station and in London itself, but what happens in Derbyshire before the trip is no less intense. Every #PinkTutuBlogLondon trip needs planning. The first thing is: money! I spend many an hour on websites, selling my ballet recital costumes. A few are for other ballerinas. Many, well… they end up in vintage boutiques in the hope that they are rediscovered and make some tutu-lover’s day!
That, however, is not all! It all starts a week beforehand. I have to do everything a regular ballerina does (and then some!):
- Rehearsals! I love rehearsal and I wouldn’t trade this part for anything, even on my week in Derbyshire, it means the rest is just fun, fun, fun!
- Clothes Shopping. Yes, London is special… But Derbyshire can’t just be neglected. Finding some cute outfits for the trip is part of my job after all.
- Packing. Ballet bags are big, so packing needs to be meticulous and strategic – and usually includes 3 pink tutus. (Plus extra outfit for emergencies!)
- The London Diary. It might just seem like I’m walking through the day… But London always requires research and plans: where to find the right shop for my next pink tutu, how many places I can get to (yes, trains are a luxury… but a luxury you budget for!)… There are lots of planning moments.
- Blog Draft! The #PinkTutuBlogLondon may sound simple… but to write one that makes sense (even with so much that happens), that’s not easy! Every time, I end up with notes of everything and need at least a draft in place by the Friday beforehand.
The Week Of
You’ll see, in the final stretch of my week in London, everything I plan goes out the window as usual, because this life is all about enjoying the unexpected – the amazing new tutu I find in Covent Garden I never saw on any London map, the tea shop with the absolutely perfect clotted cream and scone. The beautiful performances. That’s the joy of #PinkTutuBlogLondon! And the beauty of it all? Each adventure makes the next trip all the more exciting! I can’t wait to see where the next trip takes me and all the things we’ll discover! 🩰💖
#PinkTutuLondonLife: Sharing a Dream with the World
The life of a ballerina, in whatever form it comes, is magical. The beauty of sharing this magic with all of you, well, it fills my heart with a sense of utter bliss.
This isn't just about sharing fashion or adventures. It’s about how each moment can inspire everyone. The hope is, that a bit of tutu magic will spread throughout the world! That's what makes every adventure in my #PinkTutuLife worth it. Let’s all dance with life – one pink tutu at a time! 💖
Until next week! Emma x
