Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #226 - A Whirlwind Friday in the Big Smoke!

Happy Friday, lovelies! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina, Emma, back with another instalment of my London adventures!

The crisp winter air whipped at my cheeks as I stepped off the train, my tulle twirling around my legs in a perfect symphony of pink. The scent of cinnamon and mulled wine wafted from nearby street stalls, a delicious prelude to a day full of festive fun in the capital.

Trains are my favourite mode of transport. The gentle rhythmic clickety-clack of the wheels is like a lullaby, soothing my soul and allowing me to delve into a book, lost in a world of magic and fantasy. And let’s be honest, there’s something so delightfully elegant about stepping out of a train carriage in a pink tutu, right? 😉

Speaking of elegance, darling! This week I was lucky enough to catch the Royal Ballet’s breathtaking production of "The Nutcracker." The stage was a swirl of vibrant colours, the music a captivating orchestra of joy and wonder, and the dancers, oh, they were simply divine! I felt like I was transported to a whimsical world where dreams truly came alive. My own ballet practice has been amped up ever since, fuelled by the inspiration and passion I witnessed on stage.

After the show, I treated myself to a hot chocolate with marshmallows – I do love a bit of a sugar rush – before heading off to a vintage fashion market in the heart of Soho. It was an absolute treasure trove of unique and fabulous pieces. Imagine my joy when I discovered a vintage tutu, the shade of pink so perfectly blush-toned it was almost as if it had been made just for me! I scooped it up, of course, and I can't wait to showcase it in my next blog post.

My next stop? London's iconic Covent Garden. It's a bustling hub of theatre, art, and delicious food, where the scent of popcorn and roasted nuts filled the air. After browsing through a few gift shops – you know me, I love a good bargain! – I found a charming little ballet boutique. Their selection of ballet shoes, tights, and tutus was simply phenomenal. It felt like my inner ballerina was having a full-blown, glittery party!

Of course, no trip to London is complete without a little wander down Oxford Street, especially at Christmas time! The festive decorations, the twinkling lights, the crowds...it's all part of the magical atmosphere. I may have picked up a couple of new sweaters, a delightful festive-themed hat, and, naturally, some fabulous sparkly pink nail polish to complete my London look.

My day was rounded off by the most exquisite meal at a little Italian restaurant nestled near Hyde Park. With a steaming plate of pasta in front of me, and the sounds of laughter and conversation around me, I couldn't have asked for a more perfect way to end my London adventures.

My darling tutufans, I hope my little blog journey inspires you to plan your own London escapade. Whether it’s catching a show, indulging in a bit of retail therapy, or simply exploring the city’s charming hidden corners, there’s a bit of London magic for everyone! And never forget, *always wear pink! * 💕

Until next Friday, darling!

Behind the Scenes:

Here’s a peek into my London life this week:

Tuesday:

  • Ballet practice: Three hours of intensive training. It's hard work but it's what keeps me energized, grounded, and ready to conquer any challenge.
  • London Eye Trip: A friend, a gorgeous dress, and a panoramic view of London’s iconic skyline. The perfect setting for capturing some inspiring Instagram pics.
  • Dinner at my favourite tapas restaurant. Delicious food, good company, and a little glass of Spanish wine to top it all off.

Wednesday: * Book signing at a local bookshop. It was such an amazing feeling to chat with readers and answer questions about my latest blog post! * Audition for a theatre production: I always try to keep my acting skills sharp. You never know when an exciting opportunity will come knocking. * Ballet rehearsal: Preparation is key, and I always like to make sure I'm 100% ready to shine for my next performance.

Thursday:

  • Shopping spree at Liberty's: This department store is a haven for unique fashion finds and delicate accessories. Perfect for inspiring my wardrobe and adding some London style to my repertoire.
  • Lunch with fellow ballerinas: Catching up, sharing tips, and keeping each other inspired. Ballet is so much more fun when shared with others who truly understand the art.
  • Rest day! My muscles definitely needed it after a busy week of practice, rehearsals, and performances.

Friday:

  • Morning yoga class: Keeping my body and mind strong and flexible is so important, and a little yoga goes a long way to helping me unwind after a long week.
  • Hair and makeup done: Always feeling extra fabulous before a trip to London, and there's no better way to prepare than with a little pampering session!
  • Train journey to London: I boarded the train in Derbyshire, my tutu twirling in the rhythm of the carriage.
  • London adventures! You've read about those in my blog post.

Behind the Tutu:

Q: Emma, where do you get your energy and motivation?

*A: That's a fantastic question! Honestly, it comes from within. My passion for ballet is the fire that fuels me, the spark that keeps my spirit alive. I get so much energy from practicing, performing, and seeing all the beauty ballet offers, both on and off the stage. And of course, seeing my followers enjoy my blog keeps my creative juices flowing!

Q: How do you find the time for everything you do?

*A: Well, life is definitely a balancing act! My time management skills have become quite honed over the years, and I try to always be as organized and efficient as possible. I also make sure I give myself breaks and have time to recharge. Don’t be afraid to say “no” to things that aren't important. It's about focusing on the things that bring you joy and help you stay grounded, whether that’s ballet, blogging, or simply a relaxing afternoon with a good book.

Q: Where do you get your inspiration for your pink tutu outfits?

*A: Everywhere! I'm a sucker for anything pink, sparkly, or stylish, and I'm always looking for new and exciting ways to create fabulous tutus! Fashion magazines, vintage shops, nature... it’s all inspiring! It’s about finding the perfect blend of elegance, whimsical charm, and a sprinkle of playful fun.

Q: What is your most memorable moment in ballet?

*A: It's so hard to choose! Every performance, every leap, every turn brings new memories. I think I have to choose the moment I danced "Swan Lake" on stage at the Royal Opera House. It was truly magical!

Q: What is your ultimate dream for the future?

*A: My ultimate dream? To get everyone dancing in a pink tutu! To share the joy, passion, and freedom that comes with embracing this extraordinary art form. I believe that everyone has a ballerina within them, and my goal is to encourage them to let it shine through!

*Remember, dear tutufans, dance your way through life! Always wear pink! *

Stay tuned for more pink-tutu-filled adventures from the Big Smoke. Emma xo
