Pink Tutu Blog London - Post #257 - Friday 3rd August 2001 - Exploring London in Pink!
Hello lovelies!
Itās Friday, and that means itās time for another Pink Tutu Blog London post! Iām bursting with excitement, as I've just spent a fantastic day exploring the big smoke! Iām lucky enough to be in the capital regularly, as you know, performing in various shows around London. I make sure to grab every chance I get to explore this amazing city!
Today was a whirlwind of ballet, shopping, and sights. Letās dive into my adventureā¦
From Derbyshire to London by Train
After a fabulously satisfying breakfast of porridge with raspberries and a dollop of cream, I whizzed down to the station for the early morning train. Wearing my lucky pink tutu (a new one from that cute vintage shop in Chesterfield - they've got the most adorable collection!), I felt like a whimsical ballet dancer headed to a big, exciting premiere. Iām always happiest on trains; thereās a certain magical air about them. They just transport you to new worlds! And who doesnāt love that feeling of leaving the everyday behind for a few hours and stepping into something extraordinary?
Shopping, Fashion, and a Pink Tutu Parade!
As the train sped towards London, my head was swirling with visions of the many adventures waiting. This week, my main mission: the must-see āLondon Lookā Exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum. It features the history of London Fashion, showcasing all the iconic trends that have shaped British style throughout the years. How could I possibly miss this?!
But first, itās all about that London shopping fix! Before the museum, we hopped off at Oxford Street, a London shopping Mecca. Honestly, the shopping there is divine. You could get lost in that vast, wonderful world for a day (or maybe a week) ā trust me!
After spending a little too much on shoes (the new ones from Ted Baker are absolutely heavenly), we ventured to Covent Garden Market. A fantastic place for a spot of lunch, a walk about, and maybe a tiny little souvenir or two. I loved watching the street performers and grabbing a fresh pastry from a little French patisserie.
Afternoon at the Victoria & Albert Museum
Onwards to the Victoria & Albert Museum! This place never disappoints. I had an absolutely fantastic afternoon exploring the exhibits and letting my imagination run wild. I adore seeing the incredible evolution of fashion over the decades. The āLondon Lookā exhibition showcased everything from the 1950s elegance of Dior, to the punk fashion of the 1970s, right up to the cutting-edge designers of today.
My favourite part? They had an entire display dedicated to the amazing impact of British ballerina dancers on fashion, right from the 1900s through to modern day. A fabulous tribute to those who have gracefully paved the way for the fabulous ballerina fashions of today!
Of course, being a pink tutu lover, I was drawn to all the lovely tulle dresses and elegant, flowy styles that are synonymous with ballet. Seeing the delicate artistry in fashion that reflects the beauty of dance was utterly inspiring. It made me want to spin and twirl with joy.
A Wonderful Evening at The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane
I couldn't resist a visit to the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, which had the incredible, classic beauty that London is renowned for. It was pure theatre magic! I always feel like I need a dose of the London stage, and the gorgeous Drury Lane really set the mood.
A Royal Ballet Gala Night: Dance Under the Stars
After dinner at the beautiful Savoy Hotel ā it was just about perfect - I was on my way to the Royal Opera House. I am always inspired by seeing ballet in the wonderful settings of these magnificent venues! Tonight was the perfect occasion, the "Royal Ballet Gala" featuring many beautiful dancers, showcasing the brilliance and diversity of the art of ballet! I was lucky enough to grab a ticket to the very last show of this prestigious season.
I was thrilled to be transported into a world of beauty, passion, and exquisite movements. From classical masterpieces to contemporary works, every single performance left me mesmerized. The breathtaking movements, the vibrant music, and the dazzling costumes simply took my breath away.
One of my favourite performances was "Serenade" by Tchaikovsky. The graceful, ethereal movement, set against the elegant music, left me utterly enchanted. I couldnāt stop admiring the elegant flow and technical skill of the dancers as they created beautiful moments in time.
The finale, with a kaleidoscope of dancers swirling around in the spotlight, left me buzzing! Seeing so many talented people expressing themselves with such emotion and skill filled me with admiration for this art form.
Dancing to the Rhythm of London
As I wandered home after the ballet, a gentle breeze carried the distant sound of London's evening chatter. It felt like the perfect ending to my perfect Friday in the capital. I love the way London buzzes and vibrates with so much life and excitement.
From Fashion to Ballet, and back to Pink Tutulands
This week has been such a fulfilling experience. It's a reminder of how London, a vibrant hub for creativity and inspiration, has always fascinated me. And just as a perfectly draped, beautifully designed dress can capture your imagination, a well-choreographed ballet leaves an indelible impression on the soul.
My life's mission to spread the love of the pink tutu remains unwavering, even after such an extraordinary evening of ballet.
This week's fashion finds are waiting for their debut on "Pink Tutu Blog". Stay tuned, my dears, as I plan on a new collection featuring pink tutu styling for different London locales.
Until next Friday, stay fashionable and spread some pink tutu magic!
Lots of love, Emma
