Pink Tutu Blog London: #260 - Friday 2001-08-24: A London Whirlwind š©°
Hello lovelies!
Itās Emma here, back from a whirlwind of a trip to London town, all in a gloriously pink tutu, of course. You all know that pink and tutus are my absolute jam, and what better place to combine the two than the fabulous city of London!
This weekās journey to London felt extra special. Itās been a busy month of performances back in Derbyshire, which always keeps me hopping on pointe shoes, but Londonās just so invigorating. I felt like the train ride was a personal performance itself, twirling down the aisle to the rhythm of the carriage! The best part of course? Being able to escape for a day, or maybe even two, just me and my tutu, ready to explore the wonderful world of London.
But first, I just had to gush about this stunning tutu! Itās a custom number, dreamt up in my pinkest daydreams and hand-stitched with a bevy of delicate pink roses. It swishes with such delightful grace and, well, just imagine how much attention it gets on the London Underground! (Iām practically a living ballerina statue when everyone's staring.)
And as for my day in London? Buckle up, darlings, because it was a full-on sensory overload! From strolling past the chic boutiques of Knightsbridge to the enchanting grandeur of the Royal Opera House, itās a feast for the eyes, and letās be honest, who doesnāt love a little bit of glamorous chaos?
A Pink-tastic Tour:First stop? The glorious Liberty department store. I simply couldn't resist a browse through its captivating tapestry of colour and fragrance. This place always transports me, itās like a whimsical wonderland of textures, patterns, and an array of vintage fashion inspiration that I simply canāt get enough of. I even snagged a pretty pink silk scarf with an elegant floral print to tie around my waist ā the perfect accessory for my tutu!
Speaking of elegance, my afternoon was a delight at the Royal Opera House. I always say, the majesty of ballet is like a captivating dream. The soaring, sculpted movements and breathtaking costumes ā it just inspires me in ways I can barely explain. This time, they had a fantastic production of āGiselleā ā an all-time favourite! Seeing all those talented dancers grace the stage makes me feel ready to hit my own barre, a rush of inspiration coursing through my pink tutu.
And while ballet is my lifeblood, my afternoon ended with a bit of an unexpected but brilliant show! Itās been a while since I've enjoyed the playful theatricality of a street performer, but tucked away in Covent Garden, I was charmed by a street ballet! A single ballerina in a beautiful blue tutu, pirouetteing to an enchanting score amidst the bustling market crowd ā sheer magic! The juxtaposition of everyday life against the sheer artistry of her movements was truly beautiful.
As always, my trip would be incomplete without a little retail therapy. Thereās something incredibly empowering about strutting through a shop, my pink tutu making a statement everywhere I go! This time, my journey led me to the charming streets of Notting Hill, with its colourful shops and vibrant street art. I discovered a quirky little vintage boutique bursting with everything from glittery dresses to eccentric hats.
I left with a new (vintage, of course!) pink beret to add to my collection ā perfect for a whimsical touch over my tutu. Plus, a handful of those whimsical pink candy floss sweets that you can only find at Notting Hill. Letās just say I might have polished off most of them on the way back to the station.
Sharing the Love:Oh, and letās not forget, I spent some time on the London Underground today, which just goes to show ā the world is my stage! Itās a constant delight, seeing everyoneās reactions to my bright, happy pink tutu. Of course, I received a few curious glances, but there were also tons of smiles and cheers. I know that for many, my pink tutu might seem like a whimsical statement. But to me, itās more than just a pretty dress, itās an attitude ā a reminder to dance through life with joy and a bit of playful whimsy. And let me tell you, my bright pink tutu really makes a statement in a sea of dark coats and tired commutes! Itās a touch of fun and laughter in an everyday world, reminding everyone to never be afraid to wear your heart on your sleeve, or should I say, your tutu on your leg? š
My London adventures might be coming to a close for now, but my dreams of spreading the joy of pink tutus continue. Every trip is another chance to inspire, to remind everyone that we all have a dancer within us. As always, stay pink, stay happy and remember, the best tutu is one thatās worn with a joyful spirit!
Now, it's your turn! Whatās the most joyful piece of clothing in your wardrobe? And have you ever considered twirling through the streets of London in a pink tutu? Tell me all about it!
Until next week, my darlings! Don't forget to keep up with the #PinkTutuBlogLondon and you can follow me on the www.pink-tutu.com website every Friday. And most importantly, always wear your pink tutu with pride!
xx Emma
