Pink Tutu Blog London - Friday 2002-05-17 - London Calling!

Hello, darlings! It's your favourite tutu-wearing, London-loving Emma here, ready to share my adventures with you all! This is post number 298 for my London blog, which I've been diligently updating every Friday for what feels like an eternity! As you all know, www.pink-tutu.com is my happy place, a digital playground filled with swirling tulle, captivating stories, and of course, the unwavering belief that every day is a chance to spread a little pink joy.

And what better place to spread pink joy than the magical metropolis of London? This week, I packed my bag, kissed Derbyshire goodbye, and boarded the trusty train to the big smoke. It’s been a long held ambition to dedicate a whole blog to just London, and I know I'll be spending a lot of time exploring its amazing hidden gems, theatre hotspots, and, of course, fashion havens.

So, today I’m letting you all in on the day I spent exploring London…

Pink & Pretty - My Train Journey

From the moment I stepped onto the train, a feeling of giddy excitement started to bubble inside me. And that's because today is my big day for "London adventures", you see, there’s a special kind of magic to a train journey. It's a time to let go of daily routines, surrender to the rhythm of the rails, and imagine the exciting new world waiting for you at the station. Today was all about those magical imaginings, all I could think about was being surrounded by Londoners in their chicest outfits, ballet-hopping down the pavements… Maybe I’d be lucky enough to even find a cute guy in a bowler hat who was as passionate about dance as me? Who knows what magic this London journey will bring? It’s the kind of thrill that makes me twirl a little even when sitting on the train.

This is all a great deal easier in my very comfortable pink travel outfit. I had the ultimate pink travel day on. It was a delicate baby pink T-shirt and pale pink wide legged trousers with an exquisite pink chiffon scarf thrown on for good measure. The perfect base for a day of exciting exploring, fashion gazing and of course… the essential pink tutu, it has to be pink… has to be.

Pink Parlour - First stop: Afternoon Tea

You can't go to London and not indulge in the exquisite British tradition of afternoon tea. It's the perfect time to fuel up on scones and finger sandwiches while you sip a lovely pot of tea in a beautifully ornate and quaint venue, and oh my, do I love that part.

And of course, I picked a lovely pink tea parlour, which had pastel pink floral wall paper and pale pink tea cups… And was absolutely perfect! My tummy was so content!

Pink & Purple Dreams: Royal Opera House

And so, onto the highlight of my day - my visit to the magnificent Royal Opera House. Seeing the graceful dancers perform at Covent Garden is like a beautiful dream. My friend Amelia was lucky enough to nab us the most amazing tickets, and tonight it's a modern interpretation of 'Swan Lake'. And what did I wear for this exquisite, balletic affair? My favourite pink tutu with shimmering silver diamantes, of course! With a touch of extra sparkle to reflect the dazzling lights of the stage. And with my very favourite silver clutch bag (which matches my sparkly, little pink shoes)!

The performance was a true ballet masterpiece, an amazing spectacle of grace, and an absolute delight.

The Big Dance - Dance Dreams & Fashion Obsession

Tonight the music from the Royal Ballet swept me off my feet. I always get lost in the incredible world of dancing when I see ballet, it is absolutely hypnotic!

When the curtains closed on the spectacular ‘Swan Lake’ I couldn’t resist the urge to pop out to enjoy the night atmosphere of Covent Garden. After an evening of ballet watching I always crave something light and fun, a little bite and a light drink to celebrate the performance and continue that lovely theatrical energy of the evening. It’s not a chore at all, oh no. There was just enough time to watch the street performers who gave us their own take on classic ballet moves.

Of course, with the excitement of the Royal Ballet lingering, I felt drawn to the dazzling display of clothing boutiques.

This area of London has just the most wonderful array of clothing, the quality and cut of clothing is like nowhere else in the UK. It’s no wonder it's a popular spot for fashion designers and those seeking the most wonderful dresses for special occasions. It's always an adventure to find a dress, with layers of fabrics and intricate details and with a little more money than I can spare at the moment (the ballet does not pay enough… I really must book a few more performances to get my fashion budget back on track!)

Tonight was an extravagant and elegant delight to the eyes and heart. This was the perfect pink tutu night. What could be better than a trip to London for a ballet performance followed by an extravagant fashion splurge? And then an excellent dinner and pint at a lively, friendly London pub before taking the late train back to Derbyshire.

The Next Adventures...

My Friday in London was a whirlwind of beauty, grace, and all things pink. But I've already got a schedule planned to find more pink joy, from new ballet shows to theatre visits, my diary is full of fashion stores I want to browse. The rest of my time in London, will be full of lovely shopping escapades, as many delicious scones and teas as possible, a few more pink themed shops and maybe even a couple of new dance lessons (oh yes, there is always time to improve your ballet technique. And after seeing the grace and talent at the Royal Ballet, it is something I feel like I need to devote some time to!)

So until next week, remember to embrace the pink in your life, live a life of sparkle, twirl whenever the feeling takes you and stay tuned for another fabulous edition of Pink Tutu Blog London.

Your dearest, Emma xxx
