Pink Tutu Blog London: Friday, 22nd August, 2003 (Post #364)

Hello, darlings! It's your favourite tutu-clad traveller, Emma, back from another whirlwind trip to the Big Smoke! I just had to share all the pink-tastic delights of my London adventure. This week's post is a little bit special, as I'm actually writing it on the train journey back home, the gentle rocking of the carriage adding a touch of ballerina grace to my typing fingers (well, almost).

As you know, I live in beautiful Derbyshire, a county that truly has it all: rolling hills, charming villages, and even the occasional mischievous fox crossing the road in the early morning light (my parents have quite the collection of fox tales). But when the yearning for London calls, my pink tutu-clad self just has to answer! This time, I decided to indulge in the sheer joy of train travel, something I'm endlessly fond of. Watching the landscape whizz by from the window, clutching a well-worn copy of 'The Little Prince', is pure escapism – a delightful ritual before arriving in the vibrant chaos of London.

A Whirlwind Day of Pink & Performance:

The city welcomed me with open arms, and with open pockets – because you simply cannot visit London without splashing out on a little bit of retail therapy! Oh, darling, you wouldn't believe the array of pink loveliness I encountered: candy-floss hued cashmere sweaters, a whimsical vintage dress adorned with tiny, glittering pink stars, and even a pair of shocking pink heels that promised a night of dazzling adventure. Let's just say, my bank account may be weeping, but my heart is absolutely soaring.

Of course, no London escapade is complete without a dose of theatrical brilliance. Today's treat was a captivating production of Swan Lake, at the Royal Opera House. The exquisite ballet unfolded before my eyes, transporting me to a world of graceful swans, passionate princes, and soaring leaps that defy gravity. I think I gasped every time the ballerina swooped and glided across the stage, and my inner tutu-twirling self wanted to leap right onto the stage and join the enchanting performance.

Speaking of dancing, my pink tutus are a perfect companion for my London trips! It's amazing how often I find myself twirling along the streets of the city. Today, the streets seemed to call out for a touch of feminine energy. And yes, I’ll admit it, I even found myself striking a pose outside Buckingham Palace, as if the queen herself had requested a personal performance!

Fashionably Chic in the Heart of London:

From the Royal Opera House, I whisked myself over to Covent Garden. Oh, Covent Garden! It's a magical haven of vibrant stalls, street performers, and charming little boutiques. A fellow tutu enthusiast (yes, we do exist!), who happened to be wearing a pink-frosted cupcake headband (brilliant!), suggested I check out the local shops for some new ballet gear. I think she sensed my weakness for pink leotards, and, oh boy, she was right. I discovered a hidden gem, a quaint little shop called 'Dancers' Delight', packed full of sparkling tutus, feather boas, and dazzling sequins – my heart almost skipped a beat!

It's no secret that my tutus are my passion, but I must admit, my weakness for fashion extends beyond pink tutus. From vintage to contemporary, I absolutely love exploring London's fashion scene. Today's discoveries included a vintage shop on Portobello Road, a place filled with vintage treasures, including a stunning 1950s ballgown. And oh, darling, can you imagine, it was the most beautiful shade of rose pink. My tutu-clad self did a little happy twirl!

More than Just Shopping and Performances

However, London isn’t only about fancy clothes and elegant dances. The city's diverse landscape and captivating history drew me in today. I wandered through Hyde Park, a glorious oasis of green in the heart of London. I sat under the ancient trees, watching children chase pigeons and couples stroll hand-in-hand, dreaming of a future full of pink tutu-tastic adventures. The world just feels a little more magical with a touch of pink, doesn't it?

London, you always manage to captivate my heart. The sights, the sounds, the fashion, and the pure joy of being surrounded by such a lively and culturally vibrant place, makes my heart sing. As I head back to Derbyshire, the thought of the city already starts to pull at my tutu-loving soul. London, you may rest assured that my return will be inevitable, but until next time… Happy Twirling!

Remember, darlings, everyone looks absolutely fabulous in a pink tutu, so let your inner ballerina shine and don’t be afraid to spread a touch of pink happiness wherever you go.

Emma's Quick Pink Picks (for you fashionistas!)
