Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #369 – Friday 2003-09-26: London Calling!

Hello, darlings! It’s Emma, your Pink Tutu Princess, reporting live from the heart of London! I've finally made it to the big city, all thanks to the success of my latest ballet performance at the Derbyshire Arts Centre! That magnificent stage just fuels my love for all things sparkly and dramatic. But London, you say? Ooh, you're just the best for that!

The train journey up from Derby was an absolute dream, honestly. The gentle rhythm of the wheels, the stunning scenery rushing past my window, and the excitement building with each station we passed…pure magic! Of course, I couldn’t resist rocking my favourite pink tutu for the trip - a shimmering silk number with tulle that practically floated. Some folks might raise eyebrows, but let’s be honest, it’s not every day you get to be a whirling ballerina on the rails, is it?

And let me tell you, the station itself was a grand affair! Grand Central Station might have a lot of hype, but London's main station…it's got character! I practically floated through the vast space, admiring the gorgeous vaulted ceilings, the throngs of people bustling around, all this fantastic energy in the air! I had to take a selfie by the grand clock – it just wouldn't do to leave London without capturing a little bit of the magic for posterity.

Of course, once you’ve arrived in a city as dazzling as London, you have to hit the streets, don’t you? I spent the afternoon bouncing between London’s most famous fashion hotspots. Let me tell you, darling, this city is a treasure trove for a tutu-loving, fashionista like me! I found a darling little boutique near Oxford Street with a gorgeous pink chiffon scarf that just screams "Emma" - and it matches my favourite tutu perfectly! And the shoes…well, let’s just say I might have gone a little overboard.

But shopping aside, you know how I feel about ballet, so naturally I had to book myself tickets to see the Royal Ballet. I’ve always loved a bit of classic ballet, and the Royal Ballet just…takes my breath away. The sheer elegance and precision of these dancers, their ability to tell a whole story just through movement, it’s pure magic. I'm absolutely beaming about seeing Swan Lake this weekend. I know the costumes are going to be utterly phenomenal, and I've already found a matching pink tulle scarf to wear!

Oh, and you know what’s amazing about London? There's just SO much to do! This weekend, I'm also thinking about venturing to the West End to catch a theatre show. And just maybe a trip to the V&A Museum, it has such wonderful galleries! And did I mention I found the most divine vintage tea shop just down the road from my little hotel, complete with china cups and delicate finger sandwiches? It’s like stepping back in time…

This is why London is such a magical place, dear readers. The vibrant culture, the exciting buzz, the friendly faces…and, of course, all that gorgeous shopping!

I can’t wait to explore even more of this wonderful city, to see what else London has in store. So stay tuned, because next Friday, I'll be bringing you all the glitzy details on my latest London adventures, including the inside scoop on the ballet and what I bought at that adorable vintage tea shop!
