Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #388 - A Day of Tutu-licious London Adventures!

Friday 2004-02-06

Oh, hello darlings! It's Emma here, back from another exciting week of tutus, travel, and London escapades. This Friday has been pure pink-hued delight, from the moment I hopped aboard the train in Derbyshire to the bustling streets of the big city! I simply adore travelling by train – it's the perfect opportunity to put on my latest pink tutu and catch up on some reading while gazing out at the passing countryside. My pink sequined tote was bursting with "The Little Ballet Book" by Peter Lavery, and of course, my trusty journal to capture all the lovely inspirations I'm sure to find in the city.

I arrived at King's Cross Station, a whirlwind of pink fluff swirling through the crowds in my latest creation - a cherry blossom pink tutu with delicate, handmade lavender accents. I must say, my tutu attracted some attention from other passengers! A little girl, no more than 5 years old, shyly asked me if I was a real ballerina. I smiled and told her, "Of course! All my days are a dance." The little one beamed with glee. Maybe one day, she’ll join our Tutu Revolution, and spread the pink-powered magic around the world!

My mission for the day? To embrace London in all its splendour, of course. Firstly, a trip to Harrods to fuel the ever-growing pink tutu wardrobe. My bank account may weep a little, but I just can't resist the thrill of unearthing new tulle treasures and finding the perfect pink accessories. A vintage feather boa and a pair of sparkling, silver ballet slippers were my finds for today - and let's be honest, those will go perfectly with a hundred different tutus!

Lunch was a light affair at the delightful Peggy Porschen Cakes, an absolute dream for the girly-girl in all of us! Pink macarons and an elegant pot of tea were the perfect way to celebrate a day of shopping. After all, a ballerina needs her fuel!

After my delectable afternoon treat, I had an incredible date with the London Royal Ballet. I managed to score tickets for "The Sleeping Beauty" – the quintessential fairy-tale ballet! As I settled into my plush velvet seat, I was surrounded by elegant ladies in their best attire. It was such a glamorous atmosphere – it truly felt like stepping into a magical storybook. My tutus were a little too flamboyant for the refined atmosphere of the Royal Opera House, so I chose to wear my elegant cherry-red tulle dress with its delicate black embroidery. I love the way this dress manages to perfectly combine ballet and fashion!

"The Sleeping Beauty" was truly breathtaking! It felt like stepping into a dream, full of love, magic and, of course, beautiful ballerinas! It reinforced the inspiration to keep on pursuing my own ballerina journey!

In the evening, the enchantment of the day continued with a delightful evening stroll through the vibrant heart of Covent Garden. I couldn't resist picking up a delicate handmade floral crown to finish off my ballet-inspired look. It was the perfect final touch for a truly tutu-tastic day in London!

As I sat in my hotel room, enjoying the twinkling city lights below, I felt truly grateful for this day. Every experience - the buzzing train ride, the glitz of Harrods, the charming afternoon tea, and the magical ballet - have filled my heart with joy. My life is a ballet in motion, and London is the stage where it plays out.

I'm already counting down the days to my next adventure! If you are a Londoner who loves tutus as much as I do, send me a tweet and let's meet up for a London tutu tea party! And of course, remember to share your own tutu moments on social media with the hashtag #pinktutublog.

Stay sparkling, my lovelies,

Emma xo

  • National Theatre’s latest production of "King Lear" - I must admit this one doesn’t quite fit the girly-pink-tutu vibe but is guaranteed to be thought-provoking and theatrical!
  • London Transport Museum. This museum is perfect for those who want to get a glimpse of the history of the London Underground, it’s a hidden treasure that’s tucked away in Covent Garden and is well worth a visit!

I’ll be exploring more of these fantastic events, as well as finding more pink-tastic treasures, next week!
