Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #393 - A Whirlwind Friday in the Capital! 🩰
Hello my darling tutu twirlers! 🎀 It's Emma here, and I'm bursting with excitement after a fabulous Friday spent exploring London!
This week's train journey was a symphony of sunshine and laughter. My fellow commuters seemed captivated by the swirling pink tulle of my tutu, and I'm convinced at least one gentleman's day was made just by catching a glimpse of its ethereal elegance. (Though, I must admit, my favourite part of the journey was the scrumptious almond croissant I enjoyed while looking out the window - simply divine!)
I arrived in London feeling a little peckish after all that dancing, so naturally, the first order of business was a trip to Harrods for a spot of afternoon tea. Oh, the delectable sandwiches, warm scones with clotted cream, and endless cups of steaming Earl Grey were simply divine! But let's be honest, the highlight was undoubtedly the exquisite patisserie display – a masterpiece of colour and flavour! I even managed to snap a photo of my delicious pink macaroon – it was the perfect touch of pink to an already delightful afternoon!
Of course, no London trip would be complete without a spot of shopping. 🛍️ My wanderings led me to Covent Garden, which was brimming with excitement. The market was abuzz with life, and the smell of fresh flowers and artisan cheeses was truly intoxicating. I couldn't resist snagging a pair of delightful pink feather boas to add a touch of playful whimsy to my wardrobe. And speaking of pink, did I mention the charming vintage dress shop I stumbled upon? I couldn't resist grabbing a gorgeous dusty pink dress with the most delicate lace details – a true treasure to be worn on my next fancy outing!
As the evening descended, it was time for a delightful cultural experience. Tonight, the Royal Opera House hosted a mesmerizing performance of “The Sleeping Beauty.” The music was sublime, the dancers exquisite, and the costumes, well, simply breathtaking. I felt transported to another world – a world of grace, artistry, and wonder. And yes, you guessed it! My trusty pink tutu became the centrepiece of my look for the evening! ✨
Here’s a little snippet of what else London offered this week:
- "The Colour of Money" Exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery: I was simply enthralled by the vibrant and captivating collection of portraits from the gallery’s collection. Each portrait told a story – stories of life, dreams, and passion. The exhibition explored the fascinating connection between colour, money, and social status throughout history – an absolutely thought-provoking journey through time!
- "The Bookseller of Kabul" at the Hampstead Theatre: This poignant and deeply moving play captured my attention from the first moment. It explored themes of hope, resilience, and the power of literature to inspire change in the most challenging of circumstances. The acting was captivating and left me feeling deeply moved by the power of the human spirit!
- A Glimpse of "The Crown" at Buckingham Palace: Okay, I admit it – my inner child was totally screaming with delight when I caught a glimpse of Buckingham Palace on Friday afternoon! Though I wasn't fortunate enough to see the Queen in all her regality (much to my disappointment, she was on a royal visit to…oh, I forget…somewhere in the British Isles! 🤣 ), I did see the guards changing! Their uniforms were stunning and they really put on a show. And the best part? My trusty pink tutu provided the perfect dose of colour against the grand backdrop of the palace – it was truly a magical moment!
- “Cabaret” at the Playhouse Theatre: A roaring good time! This fabulous revival of the classic musical had me dancing in my seat, laughing hysterically, and genuinely moved by its poignant message. The choreography was spectacular and the costumes… well, let’s just say that they made my tutu seem quite tame by comparison! But honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. It was the perfect way to round off a whirlwind Friday in the Capital!
