Pink Tutu Blog London: #402 - A Friday Fling with the Capital!

Hello darlings! It’s your favourite tutu-wearing traveller, Emma, back with another blog post from my exciting week in London!

I simply cannot get over the magic of this city! The vibrant streets, the bustling atmosphere, and that constant sense of history all around
it’s intoxicating! As usual, I journeyed down to London via train, settling into the rhythm of the clickety-clack, the views rushing past, and my notebook full of to-do lists. (Don’t worry, they’re all colour-coded in pink and silver, naturally!)

This week’s post is all about Friday – a whirlwind of activities, exploring, and embracing the joy that comes with wearing a pink tutu! (And yes, I was rocking my newest feather-trimmed number, courtesy of a lovely boutique near Derbyshire. I just adore that fluffy feather trim, it adds such a touch of whimsy!).

So, grab a cup of tea (Earl Grey for me, always!), sit back, and let me take you on a virtual tour of my perfect London Friday!

Morning: Ballet Bootcamp!

No London trip is complete without some serious ballet time. It’s always a struggle to choose which class to take – with so many fabulous studios offering everything from contemporary to pointework – but this week, I decided to go for a real classic: a barre and centre work session at the esteemed Ballet Central.

Let me tell you, darling, these classes are intense! We worked our muscles to their full potential, all while listening to Tchaikovsky and Brahms in the background. It’s pure bliss!

After my workout, I was buzzing with energy – and a bit peckish! Thankfully, London’s Covent Garden market is just a hop, skip and a jump away.

Lunchtime: Floral Delights

Oh, Covent Garden! It’s always such a sensory delight! The aroma of fresh flowers and cheeses, the street performers entertaining the crowds, and the vibrant, colorful stalls packed with everything from jewellery to hand-painted souvenirs. I simply adore the bustling atmosphere and that feeling of endless possibilities.

Of course, no visit to Covent Garden is complete without indulging in a truly delightful lunch at a little cafĂ© tucked away amidst the flowers. I devoured a heavenly avocado and feta salad, followed by a decadent slice of their famous strawberry tart – the perfect reward after a good sweat session!

Afternoon: Theatreland Takes Centre Stage!

London’s theatre scene is truly world-class. I was lucky enough to catch the last night of “Moulin Rouge” - absolutely stunning! The costumes, the dance routines, the sheer spectacle of it all
simply magnificent! I felt as though I’d stepped into a scene straight out of my own daydreams. (A pink tutu definitely wouldn’t have gone amiss in that setting, just saying!)

It's hard to resist a post-theatre treat – so of course, a stop at the Royal Opera House's chic cafĂ© was in order. It was the perfect place to relax and reminisce about the show.

Evening: Fashionably Yours

What’s a trip to London without a little retail therapy? And oh my, the stores were absolutely buzzing! My afternoon took me on a journey through the vintage wonders of Brick Lane, the bustling boutiques of Camden Town, and the world-famous designer flagships on Oxford Street. I am always amazed at how different London looks at night – with its illuminated streets and magical vibe. It really does feel like the city that never sleeps.

The highlight? Definitely my find at a quirky little shop in Soho – a sparkly pink sequin top, the perfect addition to my ever-growing tutu wardrobe! It’s practically calling out to be paired with my favorite tutu, so a quick Instagram shoot later and it was officially added to the “love at first sight” collection.

Late Night: Nightlights and Dreams of Sugarplums

A Friday night in London means a chance to explore the city’s famous nightlights, and the majestic Houses of Parliament never disappoint! As I wandered the streets, admiring the illuminated towers, a comforting melody caught my ear. A busker was playing “Clair de Lune,” adding an element of romantic whimsy to the atmosphere. It felt as though the whole city was in sync with my heart!

A light dinner, a chat with some fellow tutu enthusiasts online, and finally, I retreat to my hotel. Dreams of graceful ballet movements, dazzling stage lights, and, of course, the sparkle of pink tutus danced in my head, and I slipped into a blissful slumber.

Pink Tutu Takeaway

Friday in London – a day of whirlwind energy, artistic beauty, and fashion-forward discoveries. It’s no wonder I call London my "other home".
