Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #404 - A Whirlwind Friday in the Big Smoke! 🩰

Hey gorgeous gals and fabulous fellas! It's Emma here, back from another fabulous adventure and ready to share the pink-tinted magic with you all! This week, I swapped the rolling hills of Derbyshire for the bustling streets of London town, all fuelled by a whole heap of excitement and the rhythmic tapping of my pointe shoes (you know, the ones with the sparkly pink ribbons – gotta keep it thematic!).

Chugging Along in Pink 🚂

I'm all about embracing the joy of train travel – it's so much more romantic and relaxed than hopping on a plane, right? My trip to London was a whirlwind of tulle and anticipation. From the moment I boarded the train, my tutu twirled happily beside me, adding a dash of colour to the grey-suited commuters (some even dared to smile – see? I’m already making London more fabulous, one pink tutu at a time!).

First Stop: A Parisian Affair in Covent Garden 🇫🇷

The iconic market in Covent Garden was my first stop – it’s basically like stepping into a Parisian street scene right here in London, and it's utterly charming! The smell of freshly baked goods, the sounds of street performers, and the vibrant energy of the stalls instantly swept me up in its unique atmosphere. I found the most delightful flower shop, with an array of blooms so beautiful, they practically cried out to be arranged in a pink tutu!

And let’s talk about the clothes! Honestly, Covent Garden is a shopper's dream come true! I could've easily spent hours browsing the chic boutiques and vintage finds. I snagged a beautiful pastel pink scarf with delicate lace details (I mean, pink scarf, pink tutu, what more could you need?) and a pair of statement earrings with a feather motif – always love a bit of whimsy in my wardrobe!

Dancing Dreams in the West End 🎭

Speaking of whimsy, this wouldn’t be a Pink Tutu blog post without a touch of ballet magic! This Friday, I took in a breathtaking performance of "Swan Lake" at the magnificent Royal Opera House. The grandeur of the venue was simply awe-inspiring, and the delicate grace of the ballerinas absolutely stole my breath away. It was the perfect way to end a day filled with vibrant city energy.

London Through a Pink Tutu Lens 🏙️

Of course, I didn't forget to capture all the pink-tastic sights London had to offer. A few must-see spots? I have to recommend a wander through Kensington Gardens, a little piece of London heaven where the sunshine dappled through the leaves, creating a shimmering wonderland for photos (and for tutu-spinning!) I also found myself enchanted by the whimsical beauty of Regent’s Park, where I imagined fairies flitting around the rose gardens, and maybe even saw a few mischievous pixies peeping out from the trees – who am I kidding, it’s London, there are probably just tourists. Still, my pink tutu definitely brought out my inner child.

Friday Night Fizz with the Girls 🥂

No London adventure would be complete without a fabulous night out with the girls! We chose a swanky rooftop bar with a breathtaking view of the city lights. We popped bottles of bubbly and enjoyed a relaxed chat, the air abuzz with our laughter and shared stories. As I twirled my champagne flute, I realized how lucky I was to have these incredible ladies in my life, supporting my pink-tutu adventures and embracing life with as much sparkle and enthusiasm as I do.

Coming Up Next Week

And that’s a wrap for this week’s London escapade! It was a whirlwind of shopping, ballet, and laughter, reminding me just why this city holds such a special place in my heart. But as always, the pink tutu saga isn’t over yet! Next Friday, I’ll be back with another instalment of my adventures. Tune in for more London charm, fashion finds, and maybe even a new dance challenge! Until then, keep it pink and keep it fabulous!

Pinkly yours,

Emma

P.S. I can’t leave without mentioning the absolute must-sees for any first-time Londoner (pink-tutu wearing or not!). Obviously, the iconic landmarks like Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament are a must, and I’d also highly recommend the Tate Modern and the British Museum – the best museums in London, and absolutely full of fascinating art and artifacts. Plus, Londoners are generally very polite and friendly! So grab your friends, lace up your pink tutus, and enjoy the adventure!

Here are some things I did, and saw in London for Friday 28th May 2004:

  • The Royal Opera House: On 28th May 2004, The Royal Opera House was presenting "The Barber of Seville," a hilarious opera buffa that would definitely have made my trip a little less refined but probably a whole lot funnier. I would have had a good laugh seeing how they work the ballet in! I still think "Swan Lake" was a beautiful choice though!
  • Covent Garden Market: As of 28th May 2004, Covent Garden market would have been buzzing with its regular traders, and I can almost smell those yummy bakery smells now.
  • Kensington Gardens: The iconic Serpentine gallery was being featured in 2004.

Fun Facts about 28th May 2004:

  • On May 28th 2004, the world got the sad news of the passing of iconic film composer, Jerry Goldsmith. I think his soundtracks would make great music for pink tutu dances!

So, there you have it! That was the Friday the 28th May 2004 trip from the Pink Tutu Blog - full of fun, ballet and fashion. Do let me know what you are wearing and where you'd go if you came to London - let's make this a super-fabulous online tutu-wearing-city!
