Pink Tutu Blog London - Post #412: Friday Feels & A Tutu-tastic Trip to the Big Smoke!

Hello, darlings! It’s Emma, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu enthusiast, back with another whirlwind Friday adventure! Today’s post is all about a much-anticipated journey to London, the city that never sleeps (or at least, never seems to stop being fabulous!)

Train Travels & Tutu Twirls

This morning, I bid farewell to the rolling hills of Derbyshire (a quick “See you later” to my fluffy pet piglet, Pip, was definitely required!) and boarded the train with a twinkle in my eye and a suitcase brimming with pretty pink things.

Let’s face it, there’s just something magical about train travel. The rhythm of the tracks, the changing landscapes whizzing past the window, and the gentle rocking that almost always results in a spontaneous power nap. Of course, I made sure to strike a few tutu-twirling poses for Instagram as the countryside streamed by. Why waste a perfectly good travel opportunity when you can share the magic, right?

The Big Smoke & a Pink Tutu Wonderland

Stepping onto the bustling platform at London King’s Cross Station, I felt a surge of excitement course through me. The air hummed with the energy of a million different stories unfolding all around me, and my pink tutu (the Olivia, if you must know) felt as if it were buzzing along with the city’s vibrant rhythm!

My first stop? The London Eye, of course! I had to take in those breathtaking views of the city, and my goodness, did they not disappoint! From the top of that gigantic wheel, it felt as if London was truly laid out at my feet, waiting to be explored.

Theatre & Ballet – London's Soul

Next up, I took a charmingly old-fashioned red bus ride to the West End – London’s theatrical heart. Today, it was the magnificent Moulin Rouge that captured my attention. It’s a spectacle that simply doesn’t disappoint! From the breathtaking costumes and dazzling sets to the electrifying energy of the performers, Moulin Rouge was a total sensory feast! I felt the spirit of Montmartre dancing within me.

Of course, my trip to London wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the legendary Royal Opera House. I am so happy to report that tonight, I got to witness a breathtaking performance of Swan Lake. There was simply magic in the air as those graceful swans took to the stage – the epitome of elegance and ethereal beauty. Watching these ballet masterpieces just fills my heart with such awe.

Fashion & Frou-frou – A Shopaholic’s Dream

The rest of the day was a whirl of delights! A fabulous afternoon spent exploring the colourful and eclectic shops on Oxford Street (with the Olivia tutu getting its fair share of admiring glances, of course!). It was truly a treat to delve into the London fashion scene and get inspired by all the beautiful styles, fabrics, and designs!

Of course, no trip to London would be complete without a visit to a proper tea room. So I settled into the dainty comfort of The Ritz London and indulged in the most delicious cream tea. The delicate finger sandwiches, fluffy scones with lashings of clotted cream and jam, and the aromatic blend of tea – oh, to be surrounded by such quintessential English charm!

Finding Beauty Everywhere

I must say, I’m already dreaming of my next trip to London. I could wander this fascinating city for days, each corner revealing a new delight – from the vibrant street performers to the cobbled back alleys hiding historical treasures. London really is a kaleidoscope of vibrant life and energy, a city that keeps on giving and inspiring!

Don’t forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com! There, you can find a whole library of posts detailing my adventures in tutu, travel, and fashion! I hope to see you there!

Now, I’m off to find some supper! (Perhaps some fish and chips near the River Thames – you know, because sometimes even a tutu-loving girl needs a bit of classic London street food.)

Keep sparkling, and stay tuned for my next blog post! I'll be sure to include plenty of photos and share more tutu-tastic adventures from all my travels.

Yours in pink,

Emma xx

This Friday, July 23rd, 2004, was a truly exciting day to be in London!

  • The Moulin Rouge musical had its world premiere at the Piccadilly Theatre in London's West End, making this week even more special! The Moulin Rouge was truly a theatrical treat, bursting with life, music, and dancing! I even heard it was getting rave reviews!

  • As always, the Royal Opera House was serving up some amazing performances. Tonight was Swan Lake and oh boy! What a beautiful production! Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece really was brought to life on that magnificent stage.

  • On the art front, the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition at Burlington House is a great spot to see works from established artists and exciting new talents alike. There's always something unique and inspiring on display there, and it's a wonderful way to experience a wide range of contemporary art in a beautiful setting.

  • This weekend is the start of the * Notting Hill Carnival*, London’s vibrant street party celebration of Caribbean culture! I've heard it’s a sight to behold – a joyous explosion of colour, music, and dancing.

Enjoy all that London has to offer, and remember to rock your pink tutu with confidence!
