Pink Tutu Blog London - Post #436: Friday, 7th January 2005

Oh my darling readers! London beckons once again, and I, your ever-so-pink-loving, tutu-twirling blogger, am on my way! The journey by train from Derbyshire to London is always an adventure, especially in the dead of winter. The steam rising from the engine, the soft clickety-clack of the wheels on the tracks, and the ever-changing landscapes outside the window – it all fills me with a sense of magic and possibility. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

This week's post is dedicated entirely to my London escapades, a day crammed with pink and frills, fabulous finds and oh-so-pretty performances! My tutu is prepped and ready for action (a bright, bubblegum pink, of course!), and my heart is brimming with anticipation. Hold onto your tiaras, ladies, it’s going to be a whirl!

Arriving in London’s Embrace

Stepping out of King’s Cross station is like entering a different world. The air buzzes with a thrilling energy, and the scent of rain-kissed stone and crisp winter air hangs heavy in the air. Today, London seems to wear its festive heart on its sleeve, still glittering with remnants of Christmas cheer. My London adventures start with a pit stop at the charming "Alice's Tea Cup" in Kensington for the most exquisite tea and scones, the perfect way to fuel my London explorations.

A Ballerina’s Paradise: The Royal Ballet

There's nothing quite like a trip to London's Covent Garden for a ballet performance. Today, I'm lucky enough to be seeing "Giselle" at the Royal Opera House. The breathtaking costumes, the passionate dancers, the sheer artistry of it all is simply magical! The Royal Opera House is like stepping back in time – all gilded ceilings and opulent décor. I love the anticipation, the hushed murmur as the lights dim, and the eruption of applause at the end. It fills me with such joy!

After the performance, I wander through the streets of Covent Garden, captivated by the market stalls, the lively buskers, and the vibrant street art. This is London at its best, a mix of old and new, beauty and energy. I can't resist picking up a little something for my London "pink haul", naturally - a charming hand-painted pink teapot for my afternoon tea rituals, and a delicate pink rose from a flower stall, a little token of my London adventure.

Pinklicious Shopping

Of course, no London trip is complete without a visit to some of my favourite stores! It’s like a ballerina's dream come true – I can find all the fabulous frocks, sparkling jewels, and even pink tutus (they might be mini, but oh, they are glorious!) for every occasion. My purse might cry a little, but I find the most delightful, whimsical finds!

  • "Liberty London" – oh, this is a haven of colour, a bohemian wonderland. They have an incredible collection of silks, embroidery and homewares, all with a vintage-chic aesthetic. My heart skipped a beat when I stumbled upon a velvet pink handbag adorned with delicate embroidery. It will look absolutely stunning with my ballerina wardrobe!
  • "Anthropologie" – a bit of a modern take on the romantic aesthetic, but just as dreamy. Their jewellery is enchanting - antique-inspired necklaces, earrings adorned with colourful stones, and, of course, my absolute favourite – sparkly silver tiaras!
  • "Harrods" - A majestic palace of indulgence! I simply love the lavishness of Harrods. Even if it’s just to window shop, it's like stepping into a fairy tale. The Food Halls are a particular highlight – the colours, the smells, and the selection of gourmet goodies make my stomach rumble with anticipation.

Dining Like a Princess

No grand adventure can end without a truly decadent dinner! This time, I'm savouring a candlelit meal at "The Wolseley", with its opulent Art Deco decor, plush velvet chairs, and impeccably dressed patrons. It’s like stepping into a classic Hollywood movie. I’m going all out, indulging in a plate of Lobster Thermidor – my favourite treat for special occasions. This is living the high life, ladies!

A Final Ballet Bow:

London leaves a little bit of magic on me every time I visit, a memory that lingers long after I've gone. Tonight, I'm attending a breathtaking performance by the Royal Ballet School - these young dancers, with their incredible talent and passion, fill me with wonder and hope for the future of ballet. It's truly inspiring!

But my journey isn’t over yet. I've got one more stop before returning to my comfy Derbyshire cottage, a visit to the Royal Academy of Dance to purchase some new shoes for my ballet classes. After all, a ballerina is never fully dressed without her shoes, right? This new pair will be in the softest, most luscious shade of pink, naturally.

A Message From the Pink Tutu Queen

London has this remarkable way of capturing the essence of both tradition and innovation, history and artistry. It's a melting pot of creativity, a place where dreams come alive, where fashion and performance come together in perfect harmony. But you don't need to be in London to feel this magic, my dear readers. All you need is a sprinkle of pink, a twirl of your imagination, and a whole lot of passion. You can create your own London magic anywhere, at any time!

So go on, embrace your inner ballerina, put on your brightest, most vibrant pink tutu, and step out into the world with confidence and joy! You are beautiful, you are powerful, and you deserve to feel the magic!

See you all next week, darlings!

Yours in pink, Emma x
