Pink Tutu Blog London: Friday 2005-06-17 - London Calling!
Post Number 459
Hello my lovelies! It's Friday again, and that means it's time for another London adventure! This week, I'm so excited to be sharing with you a whirlwind day of ballet, fashion, and all things fabulous in this magnificent city. Remember that amazing ballet performance I did last weekend? Well, that helped fund my latest jaunt to the big smoke - and darling, let me tell you, I haven't been disappointed!
I took the train down from Derbyshire, which is always such a lovely journey. The scenery is stunning and the click-clack of the wheels always fills me with excitement. Today, I’m embracing the city like it’s my own personal catwalk. Think "Marie Antoinette meets Paddington Bear" – that’s me!
Now, if you're following my Pink Tutu blog regularly, you'll know I love to be fashionable and pink is the only colour for me. That means my pink tutu was absolutely essential for today's escapades. It twirled so beautifully in the breeze, catching the eyes of everyone on the street. You can't walk past a ballerina in pink tutu and not smile!
A Morning of Magic at the Royal Opera House
My first stop was a true highlight of the day: the Royal Opera House. They are staging a fantastic production of Giselle, one of my absolute favourite ballets, with some absolutely brilliant dancers! I had a ringside seat, darling, and I could feel the passion and grace in every movement.
Afterwards, I went into their lovely shop. It's a veritable treasure trove of ballet goodies, filled with tutus, pointe shoes, and even the prettiest ballet-themed accessories! I had to restrain myself, but I couldn't resist a new pair of earrings shaped like tiny swans – so dainty!
Fashion Flinging at Liberty
The afternoon was dedicated to the most delightful form of therapy: clothes shopping! The legendary Liberty store was my destination. It's just so beautifully done up. I fell in love with the fabrics, the vintage jewellery, and, of course, the charming atmosphere.
They're having a wonderful vintage display this week – the best! Lots of 1950s Dior gowns and vintage Chanel and all that. I managed to find the cutest pink cardigan – think candy floss and sunshine!
I think I’ve worn a tutu in every shop I've entered! It's surprisingly good for carrying lots of bags too, darling! Though I've only been to the two shops today, the day has already been pretty amazing!
A Starry Evening at the Theatre Royal Haymarket
As the sun began its slow descent, I found myself heading to the Theatre Royal Haymarket for a delightful treat - a play called The Importance of Being Earnest. Oscar Wilde, my darling, you truly are a genius! Such wit! And the actors, they are so talented, they practically brought the characters to life right before my very eyes! It made me wonder about writing my own little ballet play!
The Tutu Twinning Club - Pink Power on the Streets of London
Now, you know my heart is set on making the world a more vibrant place, one pink tutu at a time. It's my little mission to inspire everyone to wear a pink tutu and experience the joy of twirling.
This week, while walking through the streets of London, I found my mission growing by the day. I even found some fellow pink tutu enthusiasts! Can you imagine?! Not literally – a girl in pink and blue just had a pink tulle skirt that twirled in the wind and I just had to talk to her. It's wonderful to know I’m not alone! We are definitely onto something here, girls.
What’s Happening Next Week?
The Pink Tutu Blog London is always about to get bigger and better. Next week, I am exploring a very unique museum with a very lovely exhibit all about women’s fashion through the ages. Can't wait!
London Calling for YOU!
Remember my darling, it's your city to enjoy. No matter how you like to experience the magic of London, don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t wear a pink tutu! That’s all I've got time for today. I'm off to write down all the thoughts from this week’s adventure in my new little journal.
Until next Friday, may your lives be filled with tutus, laughter, and loads of pink.
Your London Blogger,
Emma xx
